We have travelled extensively in the US and stayed in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. In the US we have found you need to be really careful with the 3 star ones and pay a bit more, except if you can find a really good small B&B like this, of which there are many across the US if you can find one.

First thing is that this is a B&B, they have no bar or restaurant and it is not that close to any "attractions". But wow, the setting is unbelieveable, the buildings are wooden with a real brook running between them, at the end of the brook is a working water wheel, the sound of the brook is not disturbing in any way, just serene and peaceful.

Our room was very homely, big, clean and really comfortable. Compared with modern chain hotels it felt like a home away from home.

We had breakfast the next day which was really well cooked and served. The hotel staff are just really good, freindly, helpful, considerate, but laid back in a way that is hard to describe if you have never been to California, and totally understandable if you have.

We stayed one night, but wish we would have chosen to stay longer. In summary, the best stay I have had in a long time and highly recommended.

Stayed in the FMRS Garden room, which was lovely, had a large picture window which looked out over the garden and was quiet and peaceful. The breakfasts were plentiful and filling, the staff was gracious and very helpful and Tom Cole, the manager, went to great lengths to make sure we were comfortable and happy (I was on crutches). We took delight in the afternoon wine and treats. We had an early New Years eve dinner at Johnny's Harborside (excellant), and lunches at the Ideal Cafe in the sun by the wharf. Couldn't ask for a better weekend, especially since it was our anniversary!

We stayed at the Babbling Brook over the holiday season for three nights with our two sons. The service was exceptional and Tom (ithe manager) did everything to make our family feel so welcome, including amazing breakfasts, afternoon cookies and even a special magic trick for our boys. We love being away from the boardwalk, but still being close enough. Great experience, we highly recommend it!

We originally booked with a cheap hotel. Upon checking in we found that the condition of the room was completely unacceptable. We saw an add for this B&B and checked it out. We were greeted with a real welcoming host who gave us a tour and we were sold. We chose the Van Gogh suite and had a wonderful time. The place is beautiful and the staff is really friendly. The room was excellent with a nice bistro deck and jetted tub. They served wine and cheese in the evening with a serving of sausage and pineapple which was very tasty. In the morning we had a nice breakfast with an eggs benedict made to order that was wonderful. All in all the stay was excellent and we will definitely be back.

My one-night stay was stellar. Everything from the wine-and-cheese reception to the made-to-order breakfast to the well-designed rooms kept me happy the entire time I was there. It's a beautiful location and the staff takes care of the guests well. The manager was exceptionally kind. I loved the room, including the fireplace, the whirlpool, and the sound of the brook.
