We stayed for one night in an Ocean View room. Although the inn was lovely, the rooms were beautifully decorated and the balcony was delightful, our view was really an obstructed ocean view. It was angled somewhat away from the ocean, and the 2 huge palm trees in front of the patio created obstacles that had to be looked around to see the ocean at all. The road between the hotel and the ocean was a bit of an issue as well. The road noise was sufficient to send me back inside after only 15 minutes.

The complimentary continental breakfast was OK, with oatmeal, yogurt, granola, fruit, pastries, coffee and juice served in the hotel's restaurant. There is no complimentary lobby coffee, nor any afternoon wine tasting or cookies to be had here. Not quite what I was expecting for $500/night.

That being said, this is a beautiful hotel. It was sparkling clean and service was outstanding. The walkway across the street goes along the beach was great for an early morning walk.

Room tip: Be sure to request an unobstructed view of the ocean if that's what you're seeking.

Just checked out today after a charming two night stay for a working conference. Ashley, at the front desk, greeted with us an enthusiastic hello and we immediately knew SBI had a terrific team. A big shout out to manager, Amanda, who I spoke to on the phone about a room with a view and she did not disappoint. THANK YOU AMANDA! The SBI is located right across from the beach and the property is immaculately clean, renovated with luxurious rooms that offer oversized marble bathrooms. It has a very nice restaurant on property, with a cute little gym that has all the cardio equipment one may need - I only suggest Lysol wipes for cleanliness on the machines. Overall, it was a wonderful venue for a conference meeting and ideally located to all the main attractions. Just really love the SBI.

We stayed at the Santa Barbara Inn 9/4 - 9/6/2018. It was our first time visiting Santa Barbara so we are happy with our choice of hotel. Our room was lovely and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the bathroom plus the heated tile floors. The bed was super comfortable. We had a direct ocean view with a very nice balcony with seating. The waterfront shuttle stops right in front of the hotel and the cost is only 50 cent and you can also request a transfer to the State Street shuttle or it is also a fairly easy leisurely walk up and down State Street. The hotel is steps from the beach which was great. Hotel staff was very welcoming. Our only disappointment was the onsite restaurant Convivo. We had very good happy hour/lunch there upon arrival and also took advantage of the (limited) continental breakfast this next morning. The issue we had was the following night. After spending the day downtown and at the beach and then at the hotel pool/spa, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. The restaurant advertised a 10PM closing and upon arriving at 9:15 we were informed that the hotel was no longer serving dinner because it had been a slow night. The host offered to retrieve the manager at which point she also informed us that they had decided to close early. I did not know that was an option for legitimate restaurants. Upon my insisting that we were hotel guests in need of a meal, she begrudgingly offered to have the chef make only a choice of pasta dishes for us. My husband declined that offer has I believe he felt uncomfortable, although I was willing to accept anything. We instead walked next door to the Hyatt Hotel where we received a warm greeting, had great steak and salmon dinners, good drinks, and we were even offered dessert. This totally saved the night. So although we enjoyed the hotel, the restaurant causes the loss of a point.

The room in this hotel was outstanding. Super Clean, smell very clean, open space, giant bathroom, king size bed the best,I stayed here for 1 night and slept better than ever before in a hotel. we shared our time and enjoyed the star of this hotel, their lovely beach area. I say this because of the experience that can only be enhanced by having caring staff who are considerate and helpful.
