This review is about a Saturday lunch with kids on tow. Fishouse is relatively small but does not fill cramped. It has a variety of seating options: indoor, outdoor along Cabrillo Hwy and with nice views of the nearby wharf, indoor bar and outdoor bar-like stool seating. Service is fast. I had a Seasonal Sangria and pertrale sole, my kids grilled cheese and fish and chips. The Sangria with rose wine, pineapple and berries was excellent and in tune with the season. The Sole served with rice and a cole slaw with pineapple that turned out to be surprisingly well matching the sole. The sole was presented in a few pieces rather than whole but this was not detrimental to taste. Kid's meal came with good and abundant French fries. We also shared a chocolate soufflé (that took 10 minutes as stated in the menu). It came with both ice cream and strawberries and whipped cream on the side. It was a real treat! I warmly recommend this place for location, moderate prices and strong quality/price ratio.

Staying one night in Santa Barbara, this was one of 3 fish restaurants I identified but was placed no 1 by the receptionist in our hotel. Clearly some kind of referral arrangement in place as our receptionist gave us a card for a free appetiser (up to $10) when buying two entrees.

A short walk brought us to the restaurant which was busy but nonetheless we were seated promptly. Attentive service throughout the meal by multiple staff. My wife had the sole & I had the seafood pasta. Both were delicious & generous portions. All good so far.

However, nose-dived once we asked for & received the bill. We had clarified at the outset with our waiter what the voucher entitled us to but when the bill came, instead of a $10 reduction ( the appetiser which we chose was more than this & the waiter had explained that in this situation we would simply pay the excess) only $7 had been deducted ( coincidentally the price of one of the drinks).

When challenged, the waiter stuttered a little & then blamed his manager who had allegedly prepared the bill. Whilst all of this may have been true, equally, the possibility of someone trying to pull a fast one has to be considered. Whoever prepared the bill, in my opinion the waiter had a responsibility to ensure it was right before delivering it but failed to do so.

Yes, we are only talking about $3 but the amount is irrelevant & the whole episode spoilt what had otherwise been an enjoyable meal.

Got here about lunch time on a saturday afternoon. could not eat outside but was able to get a seat inside. great service. started off with some very good coconut shrimp with an incredible cherry pineapple dipping sauce. the lunch menu is different than the dinner menu. the lunch menu has a fried combo that the wife really enjoyed. shrimp, calamari and fish. all fried. never seen a combo like that. i got the fish and chips. all good nothing went to waste. no room for dessert but we walked to the pier across the street for some ice cream. great service. tea glass never below half full. will go back when i return.
