Description: Established in 1985, The Palace Grill is a Santa Barbara landmark restaurant featuring authentic New Orleans-inspired cuisine and a fun, lively atmosphere. Winner of The Santa Barbara's Independent Reader's Poll for "Best Restaurant Service". Located in Santa Barbara's charming Old Town district, The Palace Grill has something for everyone. Our menu features a wide range of contemporary American Grill items with a focus on authentic Southern and Louisiana specialties such as Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee, New Orleans Bar-B-Que Shrimp, Blackened Filet Mignon, and delicious daily "Menu Additions". In addition we have a number of exciting Caribbean dishes and a line of Creole-Italian pastas. To insure that we remain authentic, the Palace routinely flies its staff to New Orleans to experience first-hand the magical quality of the city that has inspired the spirit of the Palace Grill. The Palace has been featured in dozens of national publications including Gourmet(R) Magazine, Bon Appetit(R) and USA TODAY(R). Throughout the years, The Palace has also been a favorite of culinary legends (including chef Julia Child and chef Wolfgang Puck) and has served its cuisine to countless global dignitaries - including 5 U. S. Presidents. At the Palace Grill, everyone shares one goal: to give our guests the most extraordinary dining experience possible: every time they visit. Besides our wonderful cuisine, The Palace is known for it's unique style of "Team Service" (which the Nation's Restaurant News called "an idea whose time has come") and our nostalgic nightly staff and guest Sing-A-Long to Louis Armstrong's iconic song - "What A Wonderful World." Come join the celebration known as "The Palace Grill Experience."

Hotel Santa Barbara stays recommended this place and we absolutely loved it. It had an amazing vibe which was evident as soon as you entered. The staff were great fun and very au fait with the items on the menu - southern-style food which was superb. The history of the place evident from old photographs lining the walls - the significance of which the endearing Maître D was happy to explain. We really enjoyed our evening there - the staff made it a real ‘experience’ and would be happy to return should we have the chance.

This place is a little bit of New Orleans in Santa Barbara. I'd venture to say it's the BEST CAJUN restaurant on the west side of the Mississippi! Fantastic attentive service, delicious mouth-watering food, singing, smiling, a magician on Friday nights that is uber talented... this place has it ALL. Fun and rocking atmosphere. Try the Cajun Popcorn and the Cajun Martini. Best steaks and chops. The Louisiana Redfish was the winner for me. A delight. ***NOT a great place for kids, but do you have a special occasion or a birthday to celebrate? Bring the party! This is more of an ADULT restaurant. They have a waitress there who is a chocolate artist and can do anything!

This is a very popular place so make sure you book. Along with the popularity though goes noise. it is not a place for a quiet meal.

More good than bad, but I was disappointed as my meal was not as promised on the menu. To start, my wife and I ordered the 'Dean Martini's' and were very surprised how large the servings were for the price, as one drink lasted the entire meal. Also, the fried popcorn crayfish were spectacular!!! So soft and delicious, we could have made a meal on them. My wife ordered the Paneed Veal with rice and it was also great. But my Louisiana Soft Shell Crabs were not gulf coast/east coast blue crabs as expected, but appeared to be red crabs (recently-new species to us on the East Coast). I guess they didn't expect to have a soft shell crab 'expert' (LOL) in the house as it's one of my favorite dishes back home. Did eat the bodies and large claws, but left the shell and small claws as there was an 'off taste'. I took a chance and lost, but that's life eating out. Finished off the meals with the two soufflé deserts. split among the four of us, and they were very tasty. Service was very good and there was a line of folks at the door when the Palace opened for dinner. For the price-point, we would try someplace different if we came back to Santa Barbara to visit family.

Fun and friendly, this place offers a wide variety of both traditional New Orleans cuisine as well as treats crafted by the chef to represent his own take on the food. One example is his bread pudding souffle. You will end up eating every one of the flavorful muffins that are offered to each table, regretting it as you see you can't order everything you want and still have room for dessert. We did the apps and it was a blast trying a variety of things. There's a little surprise around 8PM - I don't want to spoil it. But it adds to making this a neighborhood gem. Seek it out!
