“Local said it was amazing--it was”
Reviewed 4 April 2012

This restaurant was fantastic. We went for the Happy Hour and the selection of small plates was outstanding. Very interesting preparation of food and excellent presentation. It has a Moroccan decor and one can sit inside or outside. The owner was on site and was very attentive as was the staff. It was by far the best restaurant experience we have ever had in Santa Barbara .

“mediterranean mini-vacation”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

You enter a softly lit room with earth tones and decor that speaks to a Moorish influence. Once the bar crowd leaves, the noise level drops and supports the visual. The patio was pretty but we dined indoors for comfort. Next is the food. We love tapas done right. These did not disappoint. We began with chicken kebabs served with a sauce of ham, tomato and olive. They were moist and tasty. I expected a bit more recognizable ham or olives, but the puree taste was a good blend. The highlight was the albondigas, juicy lamb, well flavored, authentic meatballs, just like I remember from my early days in Spain when I discovered the wonderful world of tapas. The smoky tomato sauce was the just right complement. Our third treat was the saffron risotto with mussels and chorizo. The mussels were nicely done with good bite, not chewy and well cleaned. The chorizo came thru with lovely bites of sausage. I might have liked it more as loose sausage to better distribute thru the rice, but this worked well. The rice had the right al dente and creamy blend. Our choice of the Priorat (Embruix) was a great wine selection for each menu item. If only we were more hungry, there would have been more. We managed to save room for the chocolate mousse which, while not typical mediterranean, was a happy end to a delicious meal. Our server was very available, attentive, helpful and helped make the evening pleasant. Another plus, is the location, along the "boulevard", main street of Santa Barbara.

“imagine great food, drink in beautiful, cozy place on lower State”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

My wife and I, local foodies, increasingly prefer the Cadiz approach: several orders of tasty and creative tapas to share, with the option of a fine main course, and very good desserts. My faves were the lamb meatballs, saffron risotto, ricotta gnocchi, divers scallops, and Margarita flatbread. Plus great cocktals and La Fin Du Monde, my favorite beer. They also have a happy our.
We went early on a weeknight, and enjoyed lingering conversation in the quiet enough beautiful aura of the place for over two hours.

“Interesting and delicious tapas”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

Cadiz offers a delicious variety of tapas -- in addition to main courses. We started with wine and tapas and found them very filling and satisfying, so we never moved on to a main course. The service is excellent and the ambiance pleasant. Try their "Happy Hour" menu before 6 30 pm on weekdays for the same tapas at reduced price.

“Lovely place, good service”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

We entered in with no expectations and no plans for dinner.
The place appearance and atmosphere seemed promising.
Service was good (thank you Hugh) and the house recommendation for wine went very well with the food.
We tried the house recommended Tapas types and liked it (Ahi Tuna Crudo, Saffron Risoto, Ricotta Gnocchi)
Bottom line - a definitely good choice for an enjoyable evening with tasty food and warm atmosphere.
