We enjoyed our stay at the B&B. Wonderful food served at Breakfast and afternoon wine and appetizers. The Staff was warm, friendly and helpful, and very classy. We had perfect weather, and the outdoor gardens with fountains were relaxing. There are several areas of outdoor seating, and the garden is large enough that even if there are others nearby, there is still privacy. The location was good too, walking distance to State Street (restaurants and local bus service to the ocean). My only issue, which kept me from giving 5 stars, was the size of our bathroom. We had the Garden Room, which, other than the bathroom is very nice. There is no counter space or ventilation (the window was stuck closed and the outside door offered no privacy) and the shower is tiny. The room is too small for two people to get ready at the same time. This issue may be only relevant to this room, so if a tiny bathroom is an issue, pick a different room. Again, this did not stop us from having a great stay, or recommending this Inn to others.

The Simpson House Inn was an absolute pleasure to experience, my boyfriend and I are already looking forward to staying here again as soon as possible! We checked in late (just before 9pm) which wasn’t a problem because the most wonderfully friendly, gentle mannered host welcomed us outside as we arrived and then showed us upstairs to our room called Hayloft. The second we walked in felt like walking into an elegant design magazine. The rooms architecture is unique with its use of wood in an almost barn like style with delightful angles overhead and the fabrics and orientation of the furniture all felt exquisite and welcoming. The room is sophisticated, enchanting and extremely comfortable. For the evening entertainment we had no difficulty using the Netflix setting on the TV and snuggled into the most delicious sheets and bedding either of us had ever felt. After a perfectly pleasant nights sleep we ordered room service breakfast in the morning instead of the dinning room option because we didn’t want to leave the serenity of our room and when the food was brought to the door we were given the option to have the meal set up inside or on the deck, when we said inside our beautiful wood table with the orchid on it was transformed into the most outstanding table setting either of us had seen complete with unique antique styled china, tea pot and super delicious food that not only looked beautiful but tasted so good I almost missed my yoga class that morning because of wanting to completely over indulge. The second night we stayed was just as magical and the attention to details was not lost on us as we both work in the service industry and also travel a lot, we both agree that this was the best experience either of us have ever had and are already planning our next opportunity to stay here and even hope to get married at this location someday! If you have the time its worth walking into the main house and finding the book that shows cool pictures and talks about the history of the Simpson House Inn, the interesting information makes the entire experience even more enjoyable when you find out how much effort has gone into creating such a tranquil and enlightening atmosphere. We say with Love that we appreciate that there is somewhere like this to stay in Santa Barbara when you have other options nothing beats the location (the center of Down Town) and the elegance and luxury of the amenities and attention to detail make it more then just a place to sleep it is a place to dream.

We have stayed at the Simpson House many time and have had a wonderful experience each time. The staff is fabulous, beautiful ambiance, lovely rooms, delicious food and wine and an overall magical stay. Great for a special ocassion. Guests seem to come back over and over again.

Room Tip: All the rooms we have stayed in are lovely. The cottages are larger, more private and very special!

Within minutes of arriving the wonderful ladies of Simpson House (Peggy & Barbara?)
got rid of our stress & tiredness from 19 hours of travelling (London) with the warmest and most personal welcome! We were taken up to our lovely room and a very short while later were sitting on our sunny verandah with glasses of wine and a wide range of yummy accompaniments to eat and enjoy. Looking down at the beautiful and imaginatively laid out gardens we felt we were in an oasis of tranquilty.
The Robert & Julia Simpson room is extremely comfortable with the highlight (for us) being a large wrap around verandah which is bathed in sunlight for much of the day and is populated with furniture for eating meals, sunning or just relaxing.
The service was outstanding, from their ensuring that my wifes mobility challenges were manageable to the serving of the very generous breakfast again on our verandah.
It may be called a B&B but for us the facilities easily beat any alternative hotel options!
Finally, the location is brilliant, not just for its gardens and quietness, but also it's walkable distance into Santa Barbara and so many of its attractions!!!
Definitely our "must stay" destination when next visiting Santa Barbara.

I wanted something special for my wife for our 24th anniversary. The Simpson House Inn was that and so much more. We stayed in the Margaret Simpson room and loved it. We have never had better customer service anywhere. Bree and Laura were amazing as they were attentive and eager to fulfill our every need. The wine and hors d'ouevres were a special touch in the evening and then the desserts to come back to after dinner were also delicious. Once we parked our car we never needed it again as everything we needed was a short walk from the Inn. I must say the breakfast out on the edenic grounds, eating off of fine china with linen table clothes, listening to the fountains in the background, was a highlight and something we looked forward to each morning. Yes, this place is expensive. But, we will most certainly be back. This past weekend exceeded our high expectations in every way.

Room Tip: A upstairs room with a private balcony is a special touch.
