Description: NOTE: We're doing major renovations that will require us to close the restaurant from July 18 through July 29. We're sorry if this causes you any convenience. Chef driven, ingredient driven affordable small plates and craft cocktails and beers. A young and creative team of chefs led by Executive Chef, Jason Quinn, change up the menu daily to keep the dining experience fresh and exciting. Orange County's "Best Bartender" making exciting craft cocktails and Santa Ana's best beer program, with 15 craft beers on tap and approximately 60 bottled beers, including many rarities. The dining experience is different at Playground: You're expected to share, so don't think in terms of my dish or your dish, and we're stubborn about our no-modification rule. If you're adventurous you'll probably love it; if you need control over your dish preparation, you probably won't.

This place is fun! Love the lively atmosphere of this place. Started with albacore ceviche with mango and kaffir like cashew then moved onto uncle Lou’s fried chicken, fluffy pork belly bun with guacamole and radish and pakora. The highlight was definitely the pork bun.

This place has the right attitude for people that enjoy food, love tasting new things and are open-minded. We always come with at least one other couple and then order numerous things to share. This last visit, our favorites were the shrimp, the green curry potato and the Kurobuta pork buns, the Peruvian ceviche, the wagyu tartare and the gnocchi. The fried chicken was our least favorite---probably because it did not seem as out of the ordinary as most of the other choices. The glazed maple pork chop is good, but it is a huge hunk of meat and a little more like what one would consider a traditional entrée. The Black Mission Fig Sticky Toffee Pudding is a homerun--loved it. Their mark-ups on their wine are very fair as are their corkage fees. This is just a fun place.

I would definitely come back! I really enjoyed the smaller, shared plates approach, especially since we had 4 people (order more – yes!!!).

The restaurant is broken up into smaller rooms and we got a table in the last room which was much quieter than the front of the restaurant (definite plus!). Our server was very enthusiastic about the food and seemed to like her job. The menu changes frequently which is another reason to come back. Everything we tried was good and I especially enjoyed the vegetable dishes.

We celebrated a special occasion at this restaurant on a weeknight. It’s small with a casual somewhat artsy feel. We were glad we had a reservation because every table was full when we arrived. The menu changes weekly full of dishes meant to be shared. The dishes are served when they’re ready so it was a nicely paced meal. We had pretzel bread (very large portion for two people served with excellent pomegranate jam), grilled cauliflower, braised carrots, an obscenely large pork chop with a maple glaze.....to die for) and fried chicken. Dessert was a triple chocolate terrine with salted caramel that was absolutely delicious. It was a wonderful meal with attentive service in a relaxed environment. We loved it and can’t wait to go back.

Finally got around to go there for dinner last night and it was pretty good. Our server Anthony was very friendly and very knowledgeable.

The pretzel sourdough bread was way too big for two people and not really good. The pork belly buns on the other hand were just delicious! I wish there was more options on the menu to choose from.

That being said, atmosphere was good, service was great, and food was delicious for the most part.
