Today we were celebrating my husband's birthday and he decided to try Wokcano for lunch as he was in the mood for sushi. Sunday at lunch appears to be a great time for a visit as they were not busy. We were both quite impressed with the food we ordered.

Peking Duck Wrap appetizer: AMAZING! We decided we could easily eat 4 each of these

Rainbow Roll: IMPRESSIVE! Rainbow rolls are standard on any sushi menu, but this one with real crab and ultra fresh fish was not to be outdone. My husband actually said the fish was so good it was better without soy sauce.

Emperor's Beef: YES PLEASE! These thin, crispy strips of beef in plum sauce we so crispy and delicious we were both in love with this dish.

Fresh Mixed Vegetables side: ABSOLUTELY! Though steamed, the garlic and seasoning on these veggies make them full of flavor and a great, healthy addition to any entree.

We will definitely be visiting Wokcano again. Plan for higher prices than the average Asian restaurant. We spent $72 (including tip), but that could have easily been over $90 if my husband had ordered the 2nd roll he was considering instead of helping me finish my meal.

Average mall food. To be fair, we visited the first week and the restaurant was just getting its footing. However, there was nothing that was special about the food. The dumplings were not made fresh. The fried calamari tasted as if it came from a frozen package and the first order of singapore rice noodles were flavorless. After we requested that they be remade, they had more curry. And, the green tea was cold. The waiter was nice and apologized for the service and food.

We ordered vegetable dumplings, Spicey Seafood soup, vegan Kung Pao chicken, Seafood Garlic noodles. All was tasty asian flair but the seafood soup could use more tartness with real lemongrass. Chef came out and talked to us. He made me a special dish not on the menu. They are brand new and still getting their footing. They are open to suggestions. We will be back to give them a chance at 5 stars.
