Only had a short time for lunch while on business in San Mateo. This was a good choice. Food was good and service was fast. Not a lot of variety to choose from but adequate if you want to eat lite and/or are in a hurry.

I find this place very well maintained, clean and happy:) Greeted by the cashier, very friendly Italian guy, took my order and delivered it. Pretty tasty salmon panino. Perhaps one of the best cappuccinos I have had in a long time in California.
Open kitchen but not noisy, this place is full of locals from business talk to retired fans! I can see why:) there are lots to discover about Italian cities by reading magazines... very quiet place to have a nice chat too.

Tasty croissants, no pancakes or waffles.

I am impressed that the character this place has is not fake like other places.

Fiero caffe is a warm and cozy place with several different rooms. One room is like a home, another like a traditional cafe, and a third room which has a modern feel. Friendly service. Comforting food. We have made this a part of our new weekend routine. Great place to meet friends, eat, enjoy a cup of coffee, read the newspaper, do your crossword puzzle.

This cafe will surprise you! It is the best kept secret in downtown San Mateo. Menu is fresh, simple, tasty and beautifully presented! The service is So much better than any other cafe in San Mateo...lot's of places to sit. Great for meetings with a view of San Mateo Creek.

While a bit out of the way (2 blocks outside of San Mateo downtown), you get a truly wonderful Italian cafe experience here. The owner is from Sicily and greets you with a "buongiorno!" when you walk in. The music played is typically Italian opera or similar catchy tunes.

The coffee is really good here, and I have tried their lunch menu and they are very well made. The quality of everything here is simply a notch above a typical American cafe shop. So it is well worth the trip to skip the Starbuck and come here instead.
