We have our golf group dinner every month the the past four years. Food is always good, hot, and tasty. There is a private room in back that holds our group of 30+ and it allows up to socialized before dinner. Manny the manager is very accommodating and will make any dish we request.

This is a hole in the wall Chinese family restaurant. Tasty food and very inexpensive. No tablecloth nor wine. Family dinner for 4 at $20 if you don't order seafood.

My wife & I went there Sat evening for dinner. Lots of Chinese people inside which is always a good sign...Street parking available but had to walk 3 blocks to get there. Many Chinese restaurants within a 3 block radius so its gotta be cheap/competitive. We had the dinner special: 3 courses for 19.95 including soup of the day. Had a choice of about 25 items to choose from. The soup was watered down tomato & assorted vegetable soup but the key word is watered down. Flavored water. First course is clay pot fish fillet. The fish was not fresh - could taste the beginning of rancidity. Second selection was clay pot spicy eggplant. This was pretty good! The third was braised pork with preserved vegetables (some places call it twice cooked pork). Decent but not as melt-in-your-mouth tender as other places. Passable. I did like the fact the the "clay pots" were really metal chafing dishes kept warm for a few minutes with flame underneath. So the food is piping hot at the table and stays that way for a few minutes. They automatically added white rice and charged us for it. Total bill was $24 and some change. Plenty of food for dinner and a couple of left over meals. We ate all the fish (so it wasn't that bad!) so we wouldn't have any leftover fish which probably wouldn't be any good the next day. So they do give you a lot of food. Oh and in addition, they gave us complementary red bean soup for dessert.
All in all, I wouldn't make this restaurant my first choice if on El Camino in San Mateo but if I was hungry and had less than $25 I'd go back. I would pick spicy items and deep fried items in heavy sauce - staying away from fish.

Great place to go for consistently good Chinese Food at a great price. Try their crispy fried chicken wings, curry chicken and rock cod with garlic clay pot... you won't be disappointed. They offer select entrees with choice of 3 entrees combination for $15.95 and includes soup of the day.
