Apple Farm Inn is a quaint hotel filled with homey decorations, sweet smelling scents, and very friendly people. From the warm welcome at the front desk, hot coffee, and freshly baked chocolate cookies to the sweet farewell with complimentary miniature lemon loaf, we had a pleasant stay. The highlight was meeting Ms. Shelley (aka Sunshine) at the country store. We bought the famous apple butter from her and she just made me laugh. Your moms and grandmothers would love this place. Only downside was there is no gym or pool to exercise but again, who needs to do that when you have scrumptious baked Apple Dumplings and homemade vanilla ice cream?!!!

We stayed here as a stopover between Carmel and Santa Monica and wish we could’ve stayed longer. On arrival we stumbled upon a wine tasting and were warmly welcomed and offered various wines and nibbles by a lovely lady. The room was beautifully appointed and comfortable, a real home from home. We had dinner and breakfast at the on site restaurant and the food and service was amazing-you’ll also not go hungry as the portions were huge!! I would love to come back sometime and stay longer.

My wife and I visited Apple Farm on 8th September. We were looking forward to staying in a different type of hotel and wanted to experience a quaint room. What a major letdown we had.
From arriving at 2:00 we were told we couldn’t check in until 4:00. We decided to use the pool to pass the time as we had just had a 4 hour drive from Monterey.
We went back to check in at 4:00 to get our key and when we opened our room we were very disappointed to see how small the room was( that was after carrying all our luggage up the stairs as there was no lifts. There was barely room for our luggage, no safe or hairdryer and no room for toiletries in the bathroom. We noticed there were no cookies which were promised on arrival but not given at check in. We went back to reception to find another family checking in. We listened to to the receptionist describe the wine tasting from 3:30-5:00 and give them their cookies. We talked to the receptionist and she then went through the amenities the hotel offered but unfortunately the wine tasting was nearly finished.
We went over to the wine tasting and the lady in there was so welcoming and friendly. While we were in there, an American couple were boasting about their room upgrade even though they hadn’t asked for it. This puzzled me as I had been in touch with Apple Farm to say we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.
On checkout the receptionist didn’t ask how we enjoyed our stay and just said “that’s it, bye”
This is not just a bitter review that we didn’t get an upgrade. It’s to complain about the small rooms and poor service

We stayed here based on my sisters recommendation. The grounds are beautiful and place is clean. Our disappointment was in several things: #1 Mattress. Our backs were sore the next day. #2 Although it mentions it on their website check in at 4 PM is just not great. The sign out front front said rooms available so why 4 PM? #3. The wine reception was marginal. The food was cold. The lady was very pleasant though. #4 We tried to use that $5 coupon for breakfast the next day around 9:30 AM 30 min wait so we just went to Ihop. #5 Location is pretty much away from downtown. $7 uber ride. Overall for the $300 we paid for one night Hampton Inn for $150 is much better. I travel form work and spend over 80 nights in hotels a year on average this wasn't that great besides decor. We won't be back. =(

First, the positive - the staff are wonderful - very friendly and helpful. They were a real bright spot that should not be overlooked. However, this place is loaded to the hilt with kitschy chotchkes and busy decor. If you look past all that (and it was difficult to do), what’s left is a perfectly adequate but not extraordinary roadside motel. The room was large and had many nice amenities like a refrigerator, phone chargers, bottled water, etc. However, the bed was old and lumpy, and the sheets smelled of cigarette smoke. The walls are thin and the room was quite loud, making it difficult to sleep. The food in the restaurant was bland and, in my view, quite mediocre. The grounds and pool were not nearly as pretty as the pictures make them seem. Overall, it just was not worth the premium we paid over other hotels in the area. Maybe there is no better place to stay in SLO - I don’t know, but I would have rather spent less to stay in a more typical motel with more understated decor.

Room tip: Choose an upper floor to avoid the parking lot noise.
