Description: The first restaurant was opened in 1983 in San Diego by Ralph Rubio and his father, Ray, who started the fish taco phenomenon that spread across the nation. In addition to sustainable seafood, Rubio’s offers chargrilled chicken and steak, fresh made guacamole and salsas and sauces that are prepared daily.

Second visit before reviewing - consistently good fish and shrimp tacos and guacamole with chips. They can be a little short staffed so don’t expect to get in and out quickly.

Food is great. Fish tacos and shrimp burritos are amazing.

They would get 5 stars but the service is like molasses running down a hill on a cold day. Every week they have taco Tuesday and every week you will stand in line for 30 min while 1 cashier takes all the orders, phone calls, and to go delivery stuff. It's your busiest day of the week and it's 1900hrs your busiest time of the day, perhaps time to splurge on some extra staff?

I had the Coastal Trio, three tacos decked out with cabbage, and their normal topping. Beautiful presentation on real plates. Excellent flavor and not too long of a wait. I recommend this dish if you are really hungry. Growing up in CA, we never ate fish tacos. Now I know what I missed out on. Definitely worth another try. Salsas were just as good, not overly spicy. Good flavor.

Taco Bell is what we know of Mexican food. Rubio's opened our eyes to seafood options. We shared a shrimp burrito that was filled with shrimp, rice and potatoes. It was delicious. Others in our party enjoyed chicken tacos, nachos and quesadilla. There were plenty of other interesting choices that we will return to try. Seating is at tables both inside and out. The tables were comfortable. Bring along a wipe as they are sticky. Very family friendly. Staff did provide assistance in how to bud our table as we were first time visitors.
