“Feels like it's not on Highway 29”
Reviewed 31 December 2009

I own a small, eco-friendly winery tour company in Napa and recently stumbled across Salvestrin Winery. Even though it's right on the main drag, Salvestrin has the feel of a winery that's well off the beaten path. And of course the wines are excellent. Oftentime there's a family member in the tasting room or outside gardening. And the new tasting room staffer, Luke, is a real character who always goes out of his way to treat my guests well. I'd recommend Salvestrin to anybody!

“Exactly what a wine tasting experience *should* be!”
Reviewed 23 October 2009

Simply put, Salvestrin is the perfect antidote to an increasingly-commercial Napa Valley. At a time when most wineries however small they may appear are ultimately owned and run by giant conglomerates, Salvestrin is and has been family owned for going on three generations. What does this mean for you? A visit to Salvestrin will likely include a personal conversation with the winemakers, a stroll through their gorgeous vineyard (and maybe a nibble on grapes picked fresh from the vine), and an otherwise leisurely and attitude-free tasting experience. Ah yes, and the wine -- some delicious sauvignon blanc and seriously well-priced cabs, as well as my personal favorite, their Retaggio red blend. You will be a hit at dinner parties when showing up with a fabulous bottle of wine from your secret boutique winery while the other jokers just bought whatever was on the middle shelf at Safeway that week. A must-visit for those looking for a truly distinctive wine tasting experience.

“What a gem!”
Reviewed 17 September 2009

Salvestrin Winery was fantastic! Very down to earth. I loved being able to walk among the vines and sample the wonderfully sweet grapes. We did the "Lunch in the Vineyard" option which was so relaxing. The home-style lunch was delicious and to be able to eat lunch on the patio and enjoy the beautiful views of the vineyard and mountain range was such a treat. Their Retaggio wine was amazing. The whole experience was special and we will make sure to visit them again on our next trip to Napa.

“A gem of a winery”
Reviewed 29 June 2009

Salvestrin Winery is a great, small family winery hidden in plain view off bustling CA-29. Blink and you might miss it, so I highly encourage you to not blink! The red and white wine selections offer tastes pleasing to all palettes. Their Cabernet Savignon is delicious! I bought multiple bottles and spurred me to join their wine club. Call ahead to make a reservation for an intimate viewing of the winery. Don't miss this simple looking winery full of robust flavors!

“Off of main street but secluded atmosphere”
Reviewed 16 June 2009

You don't feel as if you're in the napa valley hustle when you're here.
Apparently it's by appointment only which can be a great perk. booked an appointment on a Saturday and a couple was hanging out on the patio area as we were entering. They seemed happy and when asked how it was, they smiled and said perfect. So, expectations were going increasing as my friend and I walked up to the tasting room. Overall the experience was very laid back and educational. Walking through the vineyard listening about the history and progress, felt inimate. It's feels so quite and calming being here. It was an excellent experience. We really enjoyed the tasting of the wines: cab, retaggio and sauvignon blac. We then purchased a bottle of SB and just hung out a bit while their next appointment was arriving. We heard they do a lunch tasting as an option. sounds like fun with a small group! Definitely wanting to come back and do that.
