My husband and I were visiting and staying with relatives and wanted to have a few days to ourselves, so my husband booked this hotel. It's located closed to downtown and walking distance to the Discovery Park. The hotel was under some renovations on the southside and I believe the hotel recently changed names. Our room was spacious with a king size bed, lcd tv, microwave and fridge which also included a recliner and high counter for storage. There was no pool and the continental breakfast was very minimal. As with alot of hotels these days, you will encounter some of the permanent residents at these locations. The stay here was pleasant except for a late night commotion down the way from some of the permanent residents but we survived. The hotel is a block from Denney's and McDonalds on the corner off Richards Blvd which is the main thoroughfare new the freeway. If you book here, ask for a room on the southside in order to avoid the late night traffic from the side street on the northside.

Room tip: select a room on the southside of hotel to avoid hearing night traffic from the side street.

The photos of this place and the initial approach make this place seem grander than it is. The rooms are jaded with stains on the flooring and the sofa in the "suite" area of the room. It's not as near to downtown as I thought, it is more than walking distance, especially in 38 degree heat, and the surrounding area may not be entirely safe. The people in the room below had an "altercation" with each other during the middle of the night resulting in police cars being called, so not a very restful night. On the positive side - rooms are a good size, well equipped and a room change was dealt with quickly, efficiently and without additional charge.

Nothing fancy but a good locaton near the train station and Old Sacrament. Easy walks to other Sacramento landmarks. Great staff. And the free shuttle to the airport is particularly good for early morning flights.

This property is not a 3-star hotel. It has 3 star pretensions, but once you get into the room you will see that it is only superficially that way. The location is terrible as it is close to the freeway in a bad neighborhood. You will not feel secure. The reception area is locked at night and they have blocked one of the entrances with potted plants. The breakfast area is on the second floor and only packaged danishes and toaster waffles are provided. I didn't see any guests eating there and did not enter. It appeared as if a number of the guests on the first floor were handicapped, but I could see no way by which they could access the breakfast room. Also, I couldn't get the free wifi to work. I think that is another bit of false advertising

It's always nice to have a frig and microwave. We had restaurant leftovers to heat up for breakfast and soda we wanted to chill. There are always lots of reviews for motels in and around a big city. TripAdvisor reviews help us pick one that's just right for us in terms of location and cost. Our room was clean but it's an older motel that has been refurbished. OK for overnight, not long term.
