Food was okay, but the waitress must have been new - she was very confused and it was not busy. She brought our dinner, but forgot to bring the Miso soup and salad, so she brought it during the middle of our meal. Never could get our water glasses refilled. Took forever to get our bill. Not the best experience.

I came here while my son was in class this evening. The location is a small side street off of Magnolia near 10th street. Parking is located behind the building for $1 an hour. It opens at 4:30pm. It's also open for lunch but only for like 2 hours. I got there at 4:20 and they unlocked the door around 4:28. There were about 6 people standing outside which I thought would be a great indication of the food. The food isn't bad but I have had better sushi. It seems like it's a quaint little local spot for folks who work nearby and they can hang out for a bit before heading home.

I sat at the bar directly in the middle. I was the first one there and I greeted the man behind the bar. He said hello. Then an Asian couple came in and sat at the end by the wall. I found it interesting that he walked down to where they were, greeted them, asked -from what I could overhear- their specific ethnicity and the young man said they were Chinese. The bar guy then asked them if they were here for the AYCE and they said yes. I thought, hmmm, he didn't ask me that. (I'm not Asian, so maybe he would have if I had been). Anyway, as he walked back to the middle of the bar, I volunteered this information and then placed my first order.

Then another more friendly gentleman came from the back and he asked me what I wanted to order. He made me feel more welcome, certainly. As a matter of fact, another young lady came in and sat in the middle of the bar near me and she told me that whenever this guy wasn't working, it is totally quiet behind the bar. Clearly, he is just the more outgoing sushi maker behind the bar. I actually enjoyed myself due to his friendly demeanor.

The sushi itself was alright. I tried Ooka last night so I was in the mood for more and this place was nearby. I read a few of the reviews listed here and I didn't expect much. If I didn't want to eat burgers or other fast food while I was waiting for my son to get out of class, I'd come here again, spend my $23.71 and call it a day. I ordered the dragon, the alaska, the tiger, the dynamite, the pizza and the volcano. The last 3 were baked and I enjoyed those. They came on tiny little plates which was new for me. I'm used to either the long plates or the square plates. The pizza was the best.

Anyway, I would say this place is fine for just hanging out after work or in my case waiting for an hour or two. It's not your 'date' spot and I did actually witness the thing that other reviewers mentioned which was the lack of more than 1 waitress. One customer got up and walked to the bar, looking for a waitress to come take his table's order. I'm glad I read the reviews which is why I walked in and headed straight for the bar which would eliminate my having to wait for anyone to come to me to see what and if I wanted something.

The sushi here is simple. There are not a lot of rolls on the menu, and they don't tend to use many sauces. The rolls they do have are good, the portions are ample, and the chefs are very friendly. Sit at the bar. The restaurant does tend to get slammed occasionally so you will get better service at the bar rather than a table. Also the restaurant is "no frills" so come to eat not to look at decor. Ask the chefs for their specials, All of them do something a little different and not on the menu, and don't forget your orange at the end of the meal.

As a Riverside local i stop by Cabin Sushi all the time. Still my favorite sushi place for the price. On Sunday's they could use a little more help. 1 server for the entire packed restaurant is a lot to put on one person.

If you are not a sushi snob like me the all you can eat sushi is ok. I was not impressed with the sushi chefs who had no time to chat with me but who had plenty of time to talk to the scantily clad girls next to me. When I want sushi in Riverside I drive the 5 miles to Ooka, even though I could walk to this place.
