Went there to celebrate a birthday and came away with exotic foods from Turkey!
The owner allowed us to sample a approx. 6 - 7 dishes along with soup or salad to start.
My favorites were the ravoili type dish (to die for) and the House specials.
The dishes were NOT spicy and all the meat was tender and scrumptious.

The location is in the heart of the Redwood City downtown area.
A few blocks from the movie theater and the Court House.
Parking is a challenge but if you make a reservation for after 7pm, the parking meters are FREE.
Dine and enjoy.

That combination is enough for me to like a place. However, the level of attentive service and quality of the food really makes this place stand out.

Criticisms - definitely the wine list leaves a lot to be desired. The red on offer was barely palatable and the Turkish wines are overpriced

There aren't too many turkish (instead of arab) restaurants, and New Kapadokia has a family flair. Great tomato dishes, tea with a smile. Don't let them talk you into any of the Turkish wines, they're not worth it. One of my once every two month places; nothing terribly special but solid good eats.

We had Sunday dinner here with our son and daughter-in-law. My wife and I split the Kebab Combo 2 which included lamb chops, kortes, Adana kebab, lamb and chicken shish kebab served with rice and vegetables. The lamb and chicken were very good but the ground beef based items were not as good. We tried the Sobiyet, the Irmik Helvast - Semolina and the rice pudding for desert. The general consensus around the table was that we should have gone elsewhere for the desert course.

New Kapadokia is our 31-year-old daughter's favorite restaurant, so last Thursday we thought we would give it a try and took a friend along with us. We asked the owner, Adam, to bring what he thought we would like. He first brought an appetizer sampler with dolmas. None of us thought we liked dolmas, but they were fabulous as were the rest of the appetizers. Next he brought a wonderful salad, and then a lentil soup. Our friend does not like lentil soup, but she LOVED this one. He brought three main courses to share. One had eggplant in it. My husband thought he didn't like eggplant, but he loved the karniyarik. Adam also brought a sarma beyti kabob (to die for) and manti (a Turkish ravioli) - all delishhh. We are not rice people, but the rice was so good that my husband kept asking, "How does he make this rice?" For dessert Adam brought baklava and sobiyet. None of us thought we liked baklava, but we had never had it like Adam makes it before. It was excellent! If you take a date there, but sure to have the waiter "swing" the coffee or tea. It was a fun ending to a great dinner.
P.S. We trusted Adam to pick a Turkish wine for us, and the pairing was perfect with the meal.
