Our Oceanfront room had a fireplace and the views of the flowers and Ocean were outstanding! There was a fire pit right outside our room and we sat there watching the cute little rabbits running all around the property (have never seen that before). Ideal location as you are just a short distance from many restaurants. We have been married over 51 years and have stayed at many, many hotels but this hotel had the most comfortable bed and the softest pillows ever! Justin (GM), the front desk, staff & maids all made you feel like they wanted you to enjoy your stay. We had a wonderful time and will certainly be back.

We were driving down from SFO and needed to stop the night on our way to San Diego and we saw this place having lots of good reviews and description of the place said "newly renovated". When we arrived the check-in was quick and efficient, but the room was very small, and certainly not recently renovated. I asked at the hotel reception and they said that it was renovated over 2 to 2.5 years ago but they've never updated their site / information.

The breakfast in the morning was okay. The waffles were probably the best thing they had.

Overall felt we paid too much for a place that wasn't newly renovated !

Room Tip: Rooms at the far end of the place have sea views, the rest have none.

Nice, relatively cozy hotel right next to the ocean. We stayed in room 322 which offered a partial ocean view. The room was clean and recently renovated and had a fireplace, an overhead ceiling fan, and plenty of room for the 4 of us sharing the 2 queen beds. There was no A/C but the windows opened and it was very comfortable.
It was really quiet and I never heard our neighbors despite the hotel being at near full capacity. The property is nice with attractive landscaping & fire pits along with Adirondack chairs for enjoying the excellent ocean views. It's a short, 5 minute walk down to the beach via a set of fairly steep stairs. The beach area was nice and mostly protected from the wind. The hotel has a small pool and hot tub which were both clean and not overly chlorinated. A free breakfast is included which was actually pretty decent with hot oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, a variety of bread & muffin options and fresh made waffles along with fresh juice and coffee. This hotel is not pet-friendly but I did notice that the hotels on either side of Cottage Inn appeared to allow pets.

Room Tip: The first floor rooms with full ocean views will also have the most "traffic" as lots of people walk by on their way to the beach.

The location of this place is absolutely spectacular! Hosted on a cliff top, overlooking the gorgeous Pismo beach! We regret not booking of one its sea-facing rooms. Thoughtful touches like the open fireplaces in their mini garden that overlooks the sea, made for the perfect evening spot to settle down with your drink and enjoy the moment! The room itself were quite comfortable and spacious and the in-room fireplace made the stay very cosy and comfortable. The breakfast included in the room price (booked through booking.com) was great and a big change from rest of the US hotels which usually do not come with free breakfast. There was plenty of parking space which was also great. One thing to note is that this is a quaint hotel and the nearest town is a good 10 min drive away. So I think having your own vehicle is almost necessary. As for eating options, there are a good number of restaurants close to the property (some of them are walking distance) which the receptionist suggested to us but they all close between 7 to 9pm. So head out for an early dinner and come back to the hotel for your cosy spot by the outdoor fireplace!

Room Tip: choose one of the sea-facing rooms! they will be worth-it!

I am particularly glad you got to "enjoy the moment" at the fire pits in our ocean view bluff garden as that is what staying here is all about.
