Owner description: Whalebone is a family owned and operated winery on the Vineyard Drive wine trail in Paso Robles, California. We specialize primarily in red wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Our vineyard is 100% dry land farmed west side Cabernet Sauvignon - this is what we are most known for, along with our Cabernet blends. We produce BOB Wine, a Cab blend that has developed a cult following since Bob first created it as a home winemaker in the '90s. You can also find Paso Robles Zinfandel, as well as Paso Robles Rhone blends in our Tasting Barn.Whalebone also offers artisan Paso Robles olive oil and vinegar tastings, and we always have cheeses, salami, and local sheep milk ice cream for hungry tasters.

We randomly found this winery on our Paso vacation. The views from the winery are terrific, and we enjoyed the wine. It has a small tasting room, but we received personal service, they sold meat (which we grilled at home and was delicious), and the olive oils for tasting and sale are fantastic. Overall, Walebone was a good time had by all.

My wife and I were traveling around Paso Robles from Boston and took a ride up Vineyard Drive and stumbled on this winery. The atmosphere was fun and the pourers were family members and were very welcoming. The wines were good, especially the Rancho Deluxe. We're old school Boston and weren't looking for any wine and cheese parties or pretentious BS. We just wanted to have a fun wine tasting and we found the perfect place. Beautiful views from the hilltop as well and I loved the old family photos hanging on the wall.

1st time to Whalebone. Great tasting room. Good size. Not too big, but fits enough people inside on the day I was there. Has a dog running around the tasting room. Place has a good country family feel to it. Great views if you sit outside with a glass Wine were pretty good. Cabs were solid. Price is about average for wine in Paso, not too pricey. I would recommend a visit. Not a place you need to go too often, but worth the visit.

Whalebone was recommended to us in 2016. We joined after our second visit. The wines are outstanding and the atmosphere is always fun. It is family owned and everyone who has helped us here has been great. We also like that you can customize your wine shipments here so you will not take something that you will not drink. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Update to my previous review... we're members now!

My boyfriend and I returned to Paso for a getaway this winter, and made it a point to stop by Whalebone again while we were there. This time, we brought a picnic and stayed for a good two hours. We started in the tasting room and had a wonderful time chatting with the family and other patrons, then made our way outside to have a picnic on the patio area.

Again, the family was amazing, and the dogs were a highlight. Whalebone is amazing, and in my book, a must-see! It may not have the best views in all of Paso, but the people are friendly, the wine is delicious and the atmosphere makes you feel at home.
