My partner, our friend, and I stopped here for brunch on Sunday. We were happy to be seated outside, in the courtyard. We were happy about every bite of eggs (Benedict and in a quesadilla), every chip, every spoonful of salsa.

We have become regulars at this lunch spot across from Vroman's. We are addicted to their specials, salads, fish tacos and burritos. All are well prepared and excellent recipes. The service is friendly and one can usually get in even though it is a small place. Counter seating makes it perfect for single lunchers. Prices are reasonable and parking in the back is convenient and free if under one hour. It is one of our favorite lunches in Pasadena.

I'm not the biggest fan of yuppie Mexican food restaurants, but the food and service here was very good. I ordered the Scrambled Mexican plate which is a close equivalent of Huevos a la Mexicana. The flavor and amount of food was good and reasonably priced. I requested the hottest chili salsa on the side and it wasn't hot and spicy the way I like it. If you like gringo Mexican food then you will enjoy eating here.

If you have the slightest taste for South American food, take the advice of the Tripadvisor guests here, skip the ridiculous lines at "Urth" and come to Yahaira's. Our waiter hyped the day's special, eggs over-easy on potatoes au gratin, so enthusiastically we gave in and ordered it. Fantastic! Perfecto! Thinly sliced white potato layered with mexican cheeses and there, in the middle, like a layer of green gold, an ortega chile, the whole thing smothered in a sweet/spicy tomatillo sauce. The fruit garni was actually ripe and tasty, not just something for color. And pardon me if you're not a perfectionist, but our "over easy" eggs truly were "easy," not hard, or broken. The guys on the grill were really rockin' it. In fact, for a small house, they were deeply staffed with spot-on waiters. Here's the real punchline: the tab was $11.50. For two breakfasts. Can't even do that with the early-bird special at Denny's. Or if you could, it wouldn't be worth it. This was a delicious VALUE in a great atmosphere--those peppy latino waiters tending to us, with busy Colorado Blvd. for entertainment.

I regularly come here for weekend brunch to get the special, whatever it is (secretly always hoping for the potato cake, though). Always good, the service is friendly and fast; if alone, sitting at the counter and watching the cooks is fun.
