Description: Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

We have been eating at Tamarine for years now. Consistently great delicious food. Service is always great. Ambiance is lovely. We really like the shaking beef and the sea bass...my absolute favorite is papaya salad and the eggplant dish.

Tamarine is definitely one of the best upscale restaurants in the Palo Alto University Avenue area. Their ambiance and service with their quality of food and cocktails are more worthy. What’s more is the location. Just at the start of university avenue (coming from 101), it’s easy to get in and out of.
Special shout out for their clay pot fish and their garlic noodles. Yum!
Go for a special occasion!

We had been encouraged to go to Tamarine since we arrived in Palo Alto. On a Thursday, we had a chance to go for lunch.

Tamarine is a lovely space. One can feel the attitude too. We did not have a reservations (harrumph from the host) but we were quickly seated in the half-filled dining room.

Our waiter was efficient and cool. We had some delicious food - the tea leaf beef is a stand out! The check, with tip, was $168. For lunch. For three. Without alcohol. It’s a lot.

And please clean the bathroom.
