Description: Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

Fusion seems to be hip right now and often not the best of two or more worlds. At this restaurant, the dishes are exciting and unique - not overwhelming. Keep it simple and good. Jackfruit stew...where else do you find this? 5 different rices in a banana leave. I would have liked to try almost every one of the dishes on the menu.
Add attentive, friendly staff and you have a winner. Any time again. Reservations are required here and certainly worth the effort.

I was so excited to come back here after a long hiatus and was sadly disappointed. The calamari was doughy, the duck not flavorful, and the beans were bland. The cod was at its usual goodness. I've been coming here for 10 years and it makes me sad to say that the quality has fallen. The service was very good though and I appreciated the attentiveness and bright attitudes of all the servers.

We had a dinner reservation on a Monday night but opted for the bar since there were available seats. We ordered the roti,
Garlic noodles, cod and the banana beignets . Everything we ordered were scrumptious . The beignets were more like fried banana fritters. Excellent service from the waitstaff/bartenders .

Tamarine has been a Palo Alto staple for Asian (Vietnamese) fusion cuisine for over a decade now. It is almost always busy and deservedly do. The menu is eclectic and offers many dishes which will both please and challenge your palate. The dishes are mostly small plates so you are encouraged to order many dishes and share. This, of course, runs up the tab pretty quickly. The service is competent but more businesslike than friendly. You will also be packed in like sardines. Don't come here for a romantic dinner. Tables are so close that if you don't introduce yourself to the occupants of the next table and shake hands, you'll appear rude and unfriendly. So, if you don't mind close quarters, don't mind robotic service and high prices, the quality food will reward you.

This place offers a great variety of delicious light Asian food. They lack some of the most traditional Vietnamese dishes, like Sallad wrapped nem in nuoc mam, the Phou soup and so on. But they have other traditional Dishes and new and better variations. All in all a great place, with good service and a vibrant atmosphere.
