Located very close to the park's south entrance, this older motel has much to recommend it. The staff is friendly, the rooms are large, well maintained, and well equipped with a small refrigerator and a mice. Although the place was almost full, our room was quiet. Good restaurants are nearby. The only negative is the rather skimpy breakfast offerings.

We stayed here after spending the day in Yosemite. Wish we had shopped around a little more. Except for the mold in the shower, the room was clean. The place is in dire need of an overhaul, and the bedding and linens were sub par. To add insult to injury, our room was more expensive than our room at the Marriott Courtyard in San Jose. While the Wi-Fi was free, it was weak and continually dropped.

You can probably do better.

The most important concern for us when staying in a hotel is cleanliness. This hotel was moderate in price, the staff was very friendly and the place was super clean. Although it's a short drive up to Yosemite, we were very glad we stayed in Oakhurst and this hotel fit the bill for us. It's close to nice restaurants too. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room as this hotel does not have an elevator.

Upon checking into this hotel, our experience was poor from the very beginning: when hearing that we had a child with us, the manager demanded that we pay an extra $10 per night so he could stay in the same room with us. This was in addition to the $150+ per night room rate that we had already agreed to online. I think this should tell you something about the hotel management and their idea of customer service. In any case, for this price, I would really expect something nice.

However, things didn't get better from there:
- The rooms are your usual 2-star motel standard -- nothing special, just the basics.
- No hot water was available one of the evenings, so apparently they have trouble with their water heaters.
- The room cleaning was below average for hotels of this type.
- Internet access was a disaster. We found the wifi was mostly unusable during our 3-night stay, so that was also a big negative for us.

As other reviewers have stated, this hotel is located more than one hour from the center of Yosemite, and the roads are extremely curvy, so it's not a relaxing drive. If you're like us, you'll be exhausted by the drive to and from the park, especially if you try to do this for several days in a row. While this is no fault of the hotel, it is worth thinking about before you book.

While the very high price of the hotel was mostly due to peak tourist season, we were shocked at what a terrible value this was. Perhaps it's a problem all around Yosemite. It's unfortunate that a family can't visit the park comfortably without booking many months in advance and paying hundreds of dollars per night to stay in a hotel closer to (or inside) the park.

Although we can't offer any better recommendations on Yosemite hotels, we can say that the Yosemite Sierra Inn should be avoided.

We booked this Inn at the last minute knowing it wouldn't be great, but it was worse. It's not cheap given the lack of facilities. The rooms are quite grubby and in need of a deep clean. One of our pillow covers was covered in "muck" as we arrived (I can only assume the cleaners standards are different from mine). The room stank every time we returned, it was a horrible stale water smell. We didn't bother to unpack as we didn't want our clothes to smell.The beds are not comfortable and the bed linen is pretty worn and in places thread bear.
The breakfast is incredibly basic, with plastic cutlery and paper plates / bowls. It is cereal, watered down juice and bread. When they ran out of bread frozen loafs were pulled out. There are only four tables for breakfast so you eat standing up, or sat outside on the concrete by the pool. Bear in mind the Inn has four floor you can image how crowded it gets. If like us, you get feed up Denny's next door have got wise and offer 20% discount on production of your room key.
Like many reviewers we booked because everything else was booked up, and hoped it would do as a quick drive to Yosemite. It's still 40 minutes drive to the park entrance. We were here for four days, if we could have moved we would have. Loved Yosemite but this definitely dragged our evenings down.
This places feels like the manager is trying to maximize their cash pile without investing anything in their customers. Strong recommend you avoid!
