I have stayed here many times since it opened. It's first class and high quality. The resort continues to improve each time. Enjoy the property and relax by the fire pit while viewing the beautiful ocean sunset.

Stayed: March 2015

We don't have a Marriott timeshare, but were able to book here through their website. My wife treated me for my birthday to a stay and play in the OC. Had a two bedroom as our son joined us. Room faced the ocean and overlooked some of the Pelican Hill golf course. Gorgeous view especially at sunset. Room was spacious and clean. Great service. Will definitely have to come back.

This was our second stay in about 10 months and our room and location was a bit nicer than our first stay. We were able to participate in a couple of the onsite activities this time but a longer stay would have been preferred. A 4:00 PM check in and a 10:00 AM check out makes a one night stay pass much too quickly.

Newport Coast Villas is a huge sprawling resort of many buildings set on a hillside overlooking the Pacific and Pacific Coast Highway. Higher floors in most buildings have fantastic views. Check in was fast and the staff is super friendly. There is a small convenience store in the lobby with snack etc.

Higher floors in most buildings have views of the ocean though its quite a long walk to get to the actual beach. We chose to drive and pay the $10 parking fee at Crystal Cove beach rather than take the resorts shuttle. Crystal Cove is terrific with hiking paths down to the beach. Its not really a beach for swimming as its very rocky but great place to hang out and relax or walk.

We were in a two bedroom unit top floor in the 4000 building which is centrally located in the large resort. The resort has a large outdoor pool area with a bar/restaurant next to it. The food is generally pretty good as is the service. There are many activities around and near the pool area, including ping pong, volleyball, basketball and a putting green.

Our unit was beautiful. Living room, dining room with table for 6 and a full kitchen with anything you could need. Master bedroom had a king bed with a beautiful bathroom and a huge shower with multiple shower heads. Second bedroom had a queen bed and a high quality sleeper sofa. Each bedroom had a flat screen TV. Balcony had a table/chairs for 4 with a beautiful view of the ocean over the golf course. Unit also had a washer/dryer in a laundry closet.

The resort is centrally located to many sites in Southern CA. A must see is Heisler park about 15 minutes south on Pacific Coast highway. Beautiful views along the coast with many areas with walkways down to the beach with tidal pools and its fairly easy to spot sea lions along the rocks by the water.

Disneyland is less than 30 minutes away and Santa Monica pier, Beverly Hills etc is about an hour but much depends on time of day and traffic. The traffic headed back to NCV is brutal in the afternoon/evening and just plain bad at many other times.

San Diego Zoo and Sea World are about 90 minutes south.

Plenty of restaurants in the area. We love to walk around Laguna Beach and check out the shops/restaurants.

Its a fantastic resort to use as a base for visiting the area. You definitely need a car if you are going to explore the area and the driving is well worth it to see the sites.

Room Tip: Higher floors are best

Swapped my timeshare for a week here. Will definitely be looking to do that again. Great accommodations with a 2 bdrm, full kitchen, balcony with water view. The grounds are really pleasant and although large, there is a shuttle running if needed (such as when you are too lazy to walk uphill after a tiring day lounging by the pool). Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

We ate out the first couple of nights here, but after that preferred dinner in as the setting is nice, relaxing, and no need to drive. They have good BBQ's available and the pool area is nice to hang out. Very close to Crystal Cove which is a great place to walk the beach. Close drive to Laguna and Newport beaches. They also have a shuttle running to several spots around town.

Room Tip: Go higher up to get a better view
