The Lakeside Cafe is likely the most pleasant place to have lunch in the Palo Alto to Sunnyvale area. In summer, shielded from the sun by big umbrellas or in winter, shielded from the wind by glass panels, the peaceful view of the lake, paddle boats, windsurfers, sailboats, pelicans, seagulls, geese, coots, and a myriad of other birds provides a chance to rejuvenate your spirit within a short distance from the city. The Cafe is on the edge of the Bay, the walking trail, and the old salt-drying ponds. It's just past the extensive Mountain View Golf Course and the tech campuses of Google, Intuit, and a dozen other similar companies.
So much for the scenery and surroundings. As if this were not enough, the prices are reasonable and the food is good. It's a limited lunch menu, but I can promise you that they serve one of the best burgers in the region.

The service is ok, they bring the food to the table. Forgot the silverware and napkins, but hey - mistakes happen. We had the grilled cheese, the heirloom tomato salad, and the bbq chicken. The tomato salad was basic, and tomatoes were over ripe. I would never order it again. The bbq chicken was tough, and a strange dark gray color. Grilled cheese was great. Latte was ok, nothing to write home about unlike other reviews that rave about it. The morning bun was delicious!

This café is in the Shoreline Park at the end of the road where there is a small lake on which boats are possible to rent. The food at the café for the Bay Area (I am a life-long resident and not usually very impressed with South Bay restaurants) is very good with some excellent coffee and dessert options. For brunch or lunch with a view there are few places to equal the Lakeside Café.

I love this place mostly for the ambiance. Their outdoor seating is great. I love the carrot soup and the tiramisu there.

Coffees are great too

We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Lakeside Cafe. One orders at the counter and then they deliver to one's table. The service was good.

We had sandwiches for lunch; I had a club sandwich with cole slaw; my husband had a chicken panini with fries. Both were good. My husband had a beer; I had an ice tea.

The cafe has a nice view of the lake. Its a good place to bring children and other family members as well as friends. One can enjoy a walk in the park or do a water sport (sail boat, paddle board, etc) before or after.

Parking can get busy on the week-ends. Although we did not have desert they have a variety of deserts and ice cream for purchase as well.
