“top rate food, service, and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 February 2012

Our party of 4 business colleagues enjoyed a variety of cuisines here. The atmosphere was great, not to dark, and not too noisy. Food varied from lobster BLT (yummy, though bread could have been better) to fabulous calamari and a mushroom polenta appetizer. Fun marguirita menu as well. Good meal, if you are willing to venture a bit from the normal fare. About 3 minutes walk from the Marriott.

“Nice place...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

Montrio has so many great things about it, but lacks in 2 - customer service and a decent wine by the glass list. DO NOT miss their awesome happy hour with the best oatmeal crusted brie on the planet. Talented chef, great bartenders and ideal location in downtown Monterey. They just need an adjustment to their staff. Most of them seem like they can't be bothered. Worth the trip anyway...for the food.

Wow! Sorry to hear that you feel the staff at Montrio doesn't really care. I'l bring this to their attention and see what we need to fine tune.
The wines by the glass change all the time so check us out in the future.
Please join us again for happy hour, it is the best in town.

“Great food and drinks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

We enjoyed both dinner and happy hour. The food is consistently great, the drinks are good, and the wine was very nice. We go here everytime we are in Monterey.

“If not for our cranky server, it would have been perfect”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

We sampled nearly the entire menu. The vegetables were super fresh with a local focus on artichokes and asparagus. The short rib was amazing. The artichoke ravioli were delicious. The crab was ultra fresh. Too bad our server was so sour he couldn't wait around to take our full drink order nor dessert order. What was our sin? We didn't all arrive at the same time. One friend lagged, and the hostess sat us anyway, so our server was mad. We will go back for the romantic atmosphere, and the stunning food, but we will avoid "Jack".

Please accept my apology. My intention for all our guests is to leave happy and feel like they have had an exceptional experience. Our servers are generally happy and fun people but apparently one was off his mark that night. Please come back and visit us again soon.

“Don't try the duck breast”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2012

There are definitely plenty of choices in Monterey, but based on some recommendations of locals I decided to have dinner at Montrio. I had the duck breast that was totally tasteless, and even worse, I got food poisoning on top of it... Will never return!
