We stayed in two queen/balcony rooms for five days - a family holiday. We were the only people for four days during the week - it was like having our own home.

Herb or Ingrid made breakfast each morning - eggs, bacon, bagels, english muffins, with a great selection of hot and cold cereals, juice, milk, coffee. They have a restaurant that offers dinner five nights per week. A fairly simple menu with a German flair (about five main course choices during our stay). They have a full bar. Seating for dinner is out on the deck or inside with floor to ceiling windows.

The balcony rooms over look the river with a small balcony for each room. The rooms are small. They include a queen bed with a sink in the sleeping area. The shower/tub & toilet are in a separate room. There are two nightstands and a dresser with ample drawer space. There are a set of four hooks on the wall for clothing. The mattress appeared to be new. It was a little soft for me but everyone has a different preference. It didn't sag.

We looked at the balcony suites. They had a sitting area with a couch and a bedroom alcove (no door).

This is a nice place to stay for a day or two. This was part of a two week trip for me, so the lack of a closet to hang all my clothes was a bit limiting (I'm traveling by car so brought everything except the kitchen sink with me).

The Inn is in a quiet location and has been kept up nicely. The one thing that could use a change is the carpet. It's pale green and very stained. I'm sure a hard floor would work so much better.

No elevator so I don't think it is wheelchair accessible above the first floor.

See my review of Monte Rio for other notes.

Room Tip: I'm not sure if discounts are available, would be best to call instead of book online.

This was a great hotel, they normally do not take new guest checking in on Wed but our travel dates changed and they allowed us to do so. We were the only guest in the whole hotel [we felt special]. The inn keeper was really friendly and made us a great breakfast the next morning. The rooms are small but super cute and really cozy. This hotel is right on the water and close to all the wineries. I hear that they have a really great Octoberfest celebration. This is a stand out establishment that is not to be missed.

Rustic on the outside and regal on the inside with modern appointments. They have somehow managed simplistic elgance within this crisp bright Swiss Chalet style Inn. Wander about like it's you own home. Great dinner show with Barry "the Fish" Melton was just the start of my great stay. Good food and accommodations and I do mean accommodate...these folks know how to treat a guest! No hovering over you, but available always. Thinking of a second home on Russian River? You have one at the Highland Dell Lodge.

We stayed here a couple of nights over a birthday weekend and it's a delightful place, away from the hustle and bustle of Guerneville but close enough to make it easy to strike out to Jenner or up river to Burke's to rent a canoe. Breakfast is easy and delightful and the restaurant serves a good German dinner -- not the best food in the region, but pretty darn good and easy as can be. Our room as bright and clean and comfy. The internet connection was good. All in all, a place to come back to.
