The A&W on G St. is like walking back 50 years ago. The atmosphere is great, the people friendly and wonderful HOT food. No cold fries here and nice portions. The tomato, lettuce and onions were fresh and crisp. The history on the wall was interesting and took you back to a simple time when all you cared about was enough gas to cruise around town

This place is something everyone should see if you come to Modesto. The movie American Graffiti was all about Modesto Ca cruising the streets in the 50's. This A and W is what was represented in the movie. They still have the waitress on Roller skates and an old Jukebox. Food is good too.

Took my husband here to show him the old A and W. It's still original. Inside there are so many signed pictures from the movie American Graffiti.

My sister and I took my grandkids to A & W "for old times' sake". It was not as we remembered it. Very disappointing, since we had been telling the kids how much fun it would be.

To begin with, it was pretty expensive for fast food - and it was NOT fast.

The food was only mediocre. The fries were hot and tasty, but the burgers were soggy and poorly assembled.

We wanted to buy a couple of the little glass mugs for the kids, but they weren't sure if they had any more...

We got burgers, fries, and root beer floats. We also got water, but we we had to pay 25¢ extra for each of the cups of water. There was also a 50¢ charge to use my credit card even though I was spending about $30 on lunch.

And saddest of all, the juke box did not work. We were told it hasn't works for awhile and they can't get "the guy" to come out and fix it.

Very little interest in customer service. It was definitely not the nostalgic 50's experience we expected, and that A & W seems to promote
