If you like campgrounds or hostels then this is the place to be. That is if you don’t mind staff who doesn’t seem to care about anything. They just asked us to fill out the forms and gave us the keys, that’s it. Not a very nice welcome after a 6 hours drive! We asked about the fires in Yosemite Park and they responded: it’s going the other way..
The rooms were very smelly. The next day we told them about our toilet that didnt flush and they said they would fix it but when we came back after a daytrip nothing had been done and we had to fix it ourselves!! Coffee: old and cold, and it took 65 steps down from our “room” to the restaurant to get it.....yes our luggage had to be carried all the 65 steps up..pfff.
Good thing about this campground: It’s quiet, lovely surrounding, but that’s it.

Its rustic. Its 45 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite. Parking is tricky if you get in late in the day. Restaurant is nice and serves wine and beer. Don't order the grilled cheese or the pizza! Breakfast is good. Nine grain pancakes are fabulous. Decor of the rooms looks like rejects from an estate sale. Very weird. Overall it was ok.

Upon arriving to the resort we were rudely greeted by a woman who clearly didn't have the time or patience for us and appeared to be picking and choosing who to be nice to based on how much money they were spending on amenities such as the 'spa'. We had no intentions of throwing away money on this particular over-priced amenity, especially since our main reason for visiting Yosemite was to see Yosemite...
She was rude, abrupt and smirked a lot.

There were plenty of parking for all guests however some of the parking was far from the rooms and hence the closest carpark was rammed full to the point where people were nipping out and getting someone to stand in their space for them so that no one else could take it whilst they were gone. We ended up having to park further from our room and lug heavy luggage up the hill and stairs to our room.

The room we stayed in was a hostel room with 2 bunk beds however we had had to pay for the whole room just for the 2 of us - not sure why this was but we were quite glad anyway. The room was clean and towels were provided. We shared a corridor with a few other rooms and we all shared 2 bathrooms, I thought that this would be carnage in the morning and we'd be queuing for the shower but it was actually fine thank goodness. The showers were ice cold for the first 10 minutes and after that became slightly more bearable but never warm.

The walls were incredibly thin so when next door decided to dry their hair at 2.30am it was a little annoying, and when the entire family in the furthest room away got up at 5am and were charging up and down the corridor I was grateful of the earplugs I had packed.

We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. The staff working here were also more friendly. Highly recommend the mushroom burger.

We have stayed in many hostels and hotels before and never experienced such poor quality for the price we paid - since this was such an expensive hostel we really did expect a little more.

We stayed in the private room for two nights. The price was comparable to prices for Hotels. Upon entering the room we were surprised at how nice the room was for a place that is so far from the city. I would go as far to say it's better than alot of the hotels 4 star hotels that we have stayed at in LA and San Fran. The decoration in the room had a nice touch to it. The dinner and breakfast was also amazing. We tried the blue cheese steak and that was super tasty.

The location is about a 50min drive to Yosemite National Park. The drive to the Park is also stunning.

Entering the resort you have a choice of accomodation. From solo backpackers who can get the bus to visit Yosemite National park to families who pulled into the resort and park their van in front of a family unit. We opted for the heated tent situated between lovely trees on the rim of the resort. Shared bathroom facilities were clean and modern. Most quests share a mutual interest - nature and specifically a visit to Yosemite National park about 45 minutes drive away. The resort supply us with ample information and brochures as it was our first visit. The atmosphere in the diningroom enhances conversations between guests, sharing their experiences. The daily menu was excellent and well prepared. Although the resort reminds of a hostel it also reflects sensitivity for the needs of a variety of guests, including tough hikers, families with children, or older couples enjoying a slower pace and a more relaxed style. Opportuniy for short walks in the resort, swimming or yoga sessions adds value. What I enjoyed most is the extended closeness to nature in the Bug Rustic Resort after admiring the beauty of Yosemite National park. It allows time to reflect on experiences with like minded guests or start planning your next day’s trips. The distance to the entrance of Yosemite park makes for long days but it was great to come home to our small, rustic tent with clean bedding, while friends with kids enjoyed listening to the frogs on the small patio of their well equiped chalet.
