Description: Cafe M is the most exciting and wildly romantic dining destination in the Malibu Hills. Located at the Crest of Malibu, off Kanan Rd. and Mulholland Dr. lies a unique restaurant and lounge with a Nouveau Barbeque menu that made Calamigos Ranch famous 4 generations ago, and keeps it breathtaking today. Join them Thursday through Sunday from noon to midnight with an amazing al fresco lunch by their private lake, or join them for dinner on a candlelit patio overlooking the property, and stay for farm fresh cocktails under the stars with romantic lounge music, live jazz and blues under the stars!! As the only dining destination on the Malibu Wine trail, come see what Malibu Vines can offer with the finest wine selections, and even tastings right at the restaurant. Bring a special someone, family, or just some friends and lounge on private cabanas, fluffy day beds, or get a private raft to sail the lake on. There truly is nothing quite like an evening at M Cafe.

We came here with friends and young children and had a great time.

The cafe is located by the ranch/event venue and is an outdoor space with lots of tables scattered on the grass, fire pits, lawn games (corn hole, giant connect four, janga and chess) and couches all accented by hanging chandeliers and lights. Once you pick out your spot (on the fist come first serve basis, but we did not have a hard time getting a table for 12 people on a Saturday at noon) you can go and order food from various food stands. We went straight for the BBQ and ordered the half platter with a side of corn. The food was just okay, some of my meat bites were very chewy and my husband said mac and cheese was pretty bad. You get the drinks from a different stand and they were good, but on the pricier side. The parking was valet only and cost us $11.

The atmosphere and location of this cafe definitely outweighed the mediocre food and we look forward to coming back to this enchanting place.

Beware this location is very expensive!! You pay a lot of money and get nothing in return except to say "oh, I spent the day in Malibu and paid a ton of money". Valet only parking on a dirt road is highway robbery. $9.00 for a Dippin Dots dessert pouch!! Outrageous. The macaroni and cheese was tasteless. The fried chicken sandwich was inedible. The "fresh lemonade" was less than 6 ounces and cost $6.00. I did not eat at the sit down restaurant only had food at the walk up bar sections. My other family members had bbq plate which was so expensive and the food was inedible.

Was there for a Corporate event early December. Everything went very well except that at the end of the event, when the staff started to clean up, a pair of headphones I won at the raffle disappeared from my table - don't get me wrong, it might have been some other guest at the party but the venue did not have any cameras to check and obviously they did not even check if it had been one of their employees and the reply was simply "they wouldn't be working here if something like that were to happen". I appreciated the manager response until one of the waiters called me an Assh*ole for no reason: He saw a friend of mine lying on the couch after having drunk a little too much and he thought I had left her there and just started insulting me and i was just behind the corner. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and wouldn't even apologize...

You can't beat the location and atmosphere, but then the food comes. Probably one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had. Ordered french toast and the "blueberry" pancakes that come with no blueberries in the pancakes but a blueberry sauce on the side. Really? For $20....of course both orders were burnt on the bottom and cold along with the pancake syrup that was also ice cold. For a $50 breakfast you can't heat the syrup? So we returned the burned meals and waited for round two. The next batch came back better, without burning but now that we started eating neither was anything special. French toast was mostly plan bread with minimal egg batter and cold again. The two pancakes were plopped on the plate, no fresh berries, no blueberries. The servers did try their best, but the meal was a lost cause. For all of this disappointment....no reduction on the bill. The final straw, $9 to park the car. So $60 later we checked that box of trying Malibu Cafe. We won't be back.....save your money and go to place that serves a real brunch that takes some pride in their food.
