Just back from my second trip to San Jose and second stay at Hotel Los Gatos. Stayed there 4 years ago and always wanted to get back there. Has to be one of the best places to stay in the area. Small botique hotel with a great feel. Very convienent place to stay if you are visiting San Jose/Monterey Bay area, 20 minutes from San Jose and 20 minutes from Santa Cruz. A great place to relax for a couple of days with a nice pool and other outdoor spaces and convient walk to downtown Los Gatos. Rooms are spacious and beautiful decor. If you are in the area, you should stay at Hotel Los Gatos.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Junior King which was spacious with a sofa, seating area and desk.

Spacious room with large bath (separate tub and shower), easy chair, desk and fireplace. Nice continental breakfast with plenty of newspapers. But needs more tables for breakfast area. Excellent service. 1 star Michelin restaurant that deserves its rating!! Not inexpensive but you get top quality!!

Thank you for taking a moment to share about your recent stay with us. I was very happy to see that you enjoyed both your time at the hotel as well as our on site restaurant, Dio Deka. I look forward to sharing with them how much you enjoyed your experience. Later this year, we will be doing a renovation of our public spaces and we will certainly integrate your feedback about seating into the design. We look forward to having you back in the future the next time that your travels bring you to the Silicon Valley area!

Gave us a free bottle of champagne when we told them we were just married! The restaurant Dio Deka was fabulous as well. The only problem was a lack of power outlets for our phones and laptops. Recommended!

Los Gatos is my home town and I really wanted to love this hotel. It is a lovely place. Though the value for price really isn't there. Everything from the confusing bellperson service, to room service, and food.

Its really not anyone's fault that works there though. Very lovely people and they want to do a great job. The problem seems from how the property is managed. Because they really don't have a proper hotel kitchen, and they lack all the needed roles of hotel staff, they have the bellpeople running around doing everything that multiple people should be doing in a hotel that costs north of $350/night to stay in.

When we arrived there was only one bellperson there and he was completely stuck helping this other couple. We stood there for over 10 minutes before we gave up and just carried all our stuff in and started checking in. I don't mind carrying my own stuff at all, though this was one of those days I could have really used the help.

Ordering a snack and some bubbly at the pool felt very dis-functional. We had to walk all the way to the front desk, order on a little ipad, and then wait over an hour to get what we ordered back at the pool. By the way, we ordered pita bread with taziki sauce and a bottle of bubbly. When the person came to deliver it he was very friendly and good smile, though the order came wrong and we just gave up and didn't have him fix it (we couldn't stand waiting another hour).

The only kitchen onsite is the restaurant that is next door (sort of part of the hotel), though its not open until 5:30pm. So you can really feel the struggle from the staff if you try to order room-service to the pool or your room (or anything else).

Breakfast was included in the stay but it was awful. This was probably the most off putting part of the whole stay. The idea of breakfast was literally a few bins of cereal and a couple of danishes. Not even a piece of toast or a bagel was available. All the hotel guests were frustrated and confused about breakfast (I think we were all shocked really, especially the class of hotel this is supposed to be). There was this point that there wasn't even bowls left that were clean and I saw a family, by accident, almost try to use already used bowls before they realized there were dirty.

In the end, we were happy to leave. This is not the usual feeling we have when leaving a little couple time and mini vacation. Most often when its time to leave a hotel, we want to stay as long as we can (even late check out). We were out of there by 8:30am.

This could be a really great hotel. Here is what I suggest: More hotel staff. Have a hotel kitchen that is operational during most hours. Get the room service/pool service to be excellent (this is important to many people). Make sure there is a quality breakfast so that you send your guests home happy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay. I was happy hear to hear that you were pleased with your interactions with our staff, but disappointed to learn about the challenges you experienced during your stay. We always strive to have staff available to assist our hotel guests, and it looks like we fell short during your arrival time. I was concerned to hear about the miscommunications while placing food and drink order at the pool. We provide a telephone poolside with room service menus, so that no one needs leave the pool. We also have hotel staff check on the pool regularly to take food and drink orders. We will work with both our bellman and our onsite restaurant to smooth this process up for the future. We greatly appreciate your feedback regarding our breakfast. We do try and tell every guest at the time of check-in that we offer a simple grab and go style breakfast, as Los Gatos has numerous Cafe's and breakfast restaurants within walking of the hotel, including our restaurants Cafe, Cafe Dio, located just across the street. I apologize if this was not made clear at check-in. We hope that you return to us again in the future and give us a chance to show you that Hotel Los Gatos can provide you with the exceptional service that you expect.

The pictures of this hotel are inviting, but there are some things that make this not quite the experience you would want. Let's start with their continental breakfast which features boxed cereals, poor quality baked goods, nothing organic, nothing fresh, only whole milk or those little cups of chemicals you can pour into your coffee. For a place that wants to be a boutique hotel there breakfast is on par with what you would get at a much lower priced hotel.
The rooms are cluttered, which if you like that will make you happy. The decor is attractive as they aim for a Mediterranean look and have some copies of old master paintings. I timed how long it took the shower to heat up and it was just below 5 minutes. The first time I used it I called the front desk as I thought something was wrong. Something was wrong but it has to do with the distance the water travels.
On the positive side they do offer free water refills, the staff was friendly and it is an excellent location.

Room Tip: Watch out for being close to the pool or restaurant

Thank you for taking the time to share about your recent stay with us at the property. We do offer a simple complimentary grab and go breakfast here at the property and while the selection is limited to pastries, cereals and fruit, there are numerous wonderful cafes and breakfast spots within walking distance to the hotel, including our restaurant's Cafe, Cafe Dio, located just across the street. What you experienced with the hot water is not a normal occurrence for the property and we will need to work with our engineering team to find the cause of it. We are very happy to say that the hotel is finalizing plans for a face lift of our guest rooms later in the year. We encourage you to come back and try the property once it is complete!
