Spent a night there, it’s just few steps from the subway and the top on top off bus pass in front of the hotel. It has clean rooms with a very good location. You can hear the conversations in the corridor..but calm and silent in general.

Small rooms, noisy from the Hill street and from backstreet. Very basic. There are more hotels in this area with much bigger space and lower price. I love the Cherry Pick cafe in the same building. Highly recommended.
If you look for the old architecture and old city stuff, the Kawada Hotel gives you the good time :)

We needed a very centrally located hotel for one very short night. The hotel is very clean, bathroom just fine. Room was ok too, except the bed is way too small for 2 grown people. In retrospect, should have just asked for two twins. European standards applied in the heart of LA. But the staff is helpful, they had a valet for a reasonable price, and were very accommodating in general. Overall, for what we paid, it was a good deal.

The staff was very friendly, the hotel was clean, but the best parts are the location and the price! You can pay a LOT more at other downtown hotels there. This one was priced right and the location can't be beat. If you can, take the Metrolink as valet is $22 per night. (Very friendly valets though if you need them!)

We stayed on a Friday night and Saturday morning we felt like we had the city to ourselves. People definitely sleep in on Saturdays - we were walking around at 9:30ish and it was practically empty. So many good breakfast places to try, so little time... we will need another trip to Kawada to try another. :)

Clean and very basic but so is the price. So you get what you pay for right? My problem was there was almost no hot water in the morning. Had to take an almost cold shower. Not recommended if you expect to have hot water..
