Description: In a world where landmarks are few and far between there is Gladstone's. Situated where Sunset Boulevard meets the Pacific Coast Highway, it's become a place of Southern California legend. One visit and you'll see why. Gladstones offers a menu plucked from the very ocean it overlooks, serving modern renditions of classic dishes as well as favorites from the land. In its typically relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, there's something to satisfy every palate. Whether you're at the raw bar, the lounge, the dining rooms or the grand patio overlooking the surf, it's commonly agreed there's no better place on the coast to enjoy fresh seafood, a Mai Tai or the most beautiful sunset views in SoCal. Book a reservation by phone or web or stop by and enjoy the experience.

Work was done and we wanted to celebrate its completion. The boss wanted to head over to the coast and catch the sunset if we could get there in time. He suggested Gladstones in Malibu.

We arrived a little after 5:00pm. We parked the car in the restaurant valet lot for $10.00, not including a tip. We decided to go down to the ocean for a few minutes as the sun was setting.

It was a Thursday night and at the time we were there it was not too busy. We were seating inside, per our request, because there was a little chill in the air. They do have outdoor seating with heaters if you wish to enjoy the fresh air.

We waited to order until after the sun set....which was lovely.

The menu is geared towards seafood items, but they do have soups, salads and pasta dishes and some chicken and beef options. Because of its great location they are able to charge, in my opinion, rather high prices. I feel that you are paying a food price premium because of the restaurants location.

I ordered the fish and chips. It was prepared well and there were 3 large pieces of fish and a goodly amount of chips. It was good, but not spectacular, especially for the price.

Gladstones offers you a good place to view the sunset , but also a place to spend a great deal of money on lunch or dinner.

We went to Gladstones in the late afternoon, arriving about half an hour before sunset.
We started with ceviche and shrimp cocktails, followed by traditional (cod) fish and chips. We asked for extra spicy Bloody Maria's (bloody Mary with tequila) and that was great as well. The cod was cooked to perfection.

Popped in for dinner just as the sun was setting- tourist-style restaurant with a location that is 100% amazing for this time of day. Food was ok- expected a little more for the price (also $10 to park in the beach lot). Great fries, salmon cooked well, tasty pesto side (very garlicky), but coleslaw needed to be fresh (tasted a little old). Great service from my waiter, and the sun did a magic job to finish the day with brilliant colours. The view!

We had a very expensive, but very tasty food with an awesome sunset view, our waiter was very professional.
Parking is expensive and not validated after eating at the restaurant
If you dont care about the cost, enjoy the food and superb location by the sea

My wife and I were on a Rose Bowl tour and this was one of the places we had lunch. They provided a buffet for us and as anyone knows, serving a large group of people can be a challange. Gladstones handled it beautifully. The food was good (especially the Lobster pasta), the service was attentive and the setting was amazing. I know this dosen't speak to ordering off the menue but if can get buffet food to taste fresh and tasty then I think you have a good shot at making made to order food special also.
