The hotel is comfortable and reliable. The people that work their are friendly. Photos of old movies that were made in the area are in the lobby. Loved that! This Hotel is right on the Hwy so it is hard to miss. The views looking outside you door of your room of the Sierra's are are breath-taking! Dont miss your chance the fantastic Alabama Hills!

We stayed three nights in the HOTEL - not the motel side. The hotel is historic and as such the rooms look like and are furnished in the time period it was built for. Everything is extremely clean and comfortable. The lobby has an office area, library, coffee bar, fireplace and a large, cozy seating area with overstuffed chairs. There is a little patio area off the lobby area with a covered area where tables allow you to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer (have to bring your own) even if it's hot out. The staff are very helpful and will try to fulfill any wish or need you might have. There is a very large swimming pool and sunning area associated with this hotel. It is right downtown so it's an easy walk to restaurants, shopping and even the film museum.
We stayed here one night on our drive to Reno. The property is historic and has hosted many movie stars in town to shoot Westerns and such. John Wayne's photos are all over the lobby. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problem we had was the key had to be jiggled quite a bit before it finally unlocked the door. The hotel is in a great location, the town is completely walkable from one end to the other. Mt. Whitney is quite close by and there is also a road you could take a 2 wheel drive car on safely to look at the fabulous rock formations.
Went during COVID stuff but was still able to get coffee in the lobby. Place is clean, well kept, pool open 24 hours, service is the best. Plus it has some history behind it.
Good cafe/ bakery across the street.
Views are wonderful, get a second floor room if you can.
We spent a night here. The rooms are quite clean and well maintained for an older motel. We stayed on the 2nd floor and it was very quiet at night. You have to walk around the from to check in (hassle) but the staff is most helpful. My only complaint was that the A/C unit seemed to need a good cleaning. There was some fuzz/dust on the vents (ugg). Otherwise a nice place to stay. With the corona virus it would seem that better A/C maintenance would be a good thing. Otherwise I would have given 5*
You really can’t beat the value. Nothing fancy, but super clean, nice amenities, comfortable bed and nice linens. We were only there for one night, but it always feels like coming home. We will definitely return. It has a personal feel rather than corporate. Make a reservation. They are frequently full
