Stayed for one night and glad we did not stay for more. Definition of a dingy motel. Staff not friendly, and the cleanliness of the room was questionable. Thin walls. Not worth it. Plenty of other options in Lone Pine, and I would take any one of them over this place.

We stayed here for two nights and were very comfortable in the middle of a sand storm. Conveniently located on the main highway through town but within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The rooms were small but very clean and there was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Parking lot is small so not all vehicles can in front of room doors. Extra parking is on the street out front or else on the side. Staff very friendly and helpful with things to see in the area.

We stayed here on way to San Fran. It was cozy, clean offered fridge, microwave & coffee facilities. The owners were just lovely & directed us to 'The Grill' across the road where we had amazing dinner & went back for breakfast. Yes I would stay here again.

Motel was clean, large with 2 king beds: had a strange chemical smell. Hole in bathroom wall, paint chipping, tiles broken, bathtub with cracks. I personally did not like the attitude of person when we checked in. It is a AAA approved place, I asked for a AAA discount or senior citizen, an immediate no, take it or leave it, and then stated, if I give you the 15%, there is a 15% tax, so it is still the same price. Really???? Who taught her math. Anyway, room was fine for last minute situation.

Room tip: Book in advance, but if you cannot, this is okay. There was the loud sound of the car wash next door.

This is an average motel in a town with very expensive lodging catering to hikers and travelers hiking Mount Whitney. We were desperate for a room after our backpacking trip which we started in Kings Canyon. We didn't have a car and so wanted something close to the Eastern Sierra Transit bus stop, from where we were to catch a bus next morning. The Portal Motel is right next to the bus stop and had a room for us (the first three places we checked were sold out).

For the class of motel the room was pricey. The lobby smelled strongly of curry -- while I enjoy curry, I really don't want to smell it in the lobby of a motel while checking in. The room and bathroom were clean, the carpet old and a little musty, the furniture dated. Standard amenities were available -- microwave, fridge, air conditioning. The rooms in the rear are behind a car wash and the parking there is dimly lit, which looks a little sketchy. But it seemed to be alright as we did walk out for dinner and came back without any trouble.

An okay choice in Lone Pine, if you are looking for something for a quick stop.
