Barons Casino & Resort, offers more than you can imagine. It's pretty close to being in Las Vegas and, they've several Restaurant's to choose from as well as Bars, if that's your thing too. Plus, how about the many, many games, video poker, slots and, when you are done, soar or need to really relax, how about a massage?! Then, if you desire, play a round of golf or take a swim! And, don't forget, they feature live music too. So, in this travelers opinion, it's well worth it and, not as crowded too! Give it a go and, Safe Travels!

Hotel was nice; clean rooms; keurig coffee maker; in room safe; separate shower (and tub). Restaurant food was good (but, service was very slow/poor).

Casino - NO alcoholic drinks available (for free OR purchase). This is a major problem with the casino!

Casino and restaurant issues kept this from being rated a 4.

We went to go to the buffet to celebrate my birthday, the price had been raised from about $30 to $45 ( even with the club card) from the last time we were there...( 2 months ago)
they're doing new construction on the casino so I suppose that is to finance the construction.
So instead of the buffet we went to the Sage 24-hour restaurant in the casino. I had the salmon and green beans and mashed potatoes, With wedge salad and rolls for $17. The salmon and beans were good, mashed potatoes fair...Her Ladyship had the mid-eastern dish (kabob) with steak, chicken and lamb. The lamb was inedible, very gristly and tough... our other friend had fish and chips, which she said was alright.
We had looked forward to eating at the buffet, but at a price of $45 per person, you can find many other places to eat in the San Diego area for much better and less expensive...

Barona is a well maintained casino with many gaming tables. They even have a section set aside for non smoking.
The buffet is well worth it. On Wednesday they had steamed and fried lobster tails on the menu. They have many stations from which to choose and the food is well prepared.

This is an unusual casino. The staff was very nice and welcoming. They offer some unique things- free rides on the carts and pedicabs from the paking area and golf course, free motorized scooters for older and disabled people, free ATMs and lots of slot attendants to bring you change and cash out vouchers. Great intentions, but unintentional consquences- With all of that happening, it seems to create "traffic jams"-making it hard to navigate your way through the casino because all of the carts and scooter are just sitting in isle ways, attendants are blocking machines, etc. The slots pay out terribly despite the claim of loosest slots. Unlike most casinos, you can't take your voucher to a machine to cash out when you are done playing, you have to see a cage cashier or flag down an attendant, which can be very inconvienient, depending on how busy the casino is. The players club is a joke.

The have it set up in such a way that they try to make it spacious in some areas, but then cramped in others. The food court is chaotic to say the least, so much that we couldnt eat there. The buffet is great (but expensive)- unlike most buffets you find in a casino. The food is very good, the stations are spread out, clean and have a unique variety of offerings.

Also, a strange thing we noticed- no alchol in the casino, we didnt want to drink at that time but found it odd. No lounge areas, no where to walk away from the games and sit and talk or just take a break. If you are not playing or eating at every moment, you have nowhere to sit or have a conversation. This creates a situation where people are sitting at slot machines, not playing, but some were engaged in socail conversation, some were sleeping, somewhere using cell phones, etc.
