“best value for your money, stay here and help Cambodian youth !”
Reviewed 22 September 2011

the hotel is spic and span clean and tidy, the rooms are fine, the restaurant is ok and the location is quiet and very near Otres and Ochheteuil beaches.
Brother Roberto is a saint of the 21st century, as he spent all his life helping disadvantaged youth in the refugee camps first ( during the civil war) then in Phnom Penh and now here in this wonderful hotel school.
The young trainees are sometimes slow, unexperienced and shy, but they are learning, forget if they do some mistakes. In case of need call Bro. Roberto , during your stay, he will fix everything for you with his usual kindness and professionality.

Room Tip: at the ground floor disabled travelers can have special rooms fitted for them. Just ask. All the ro...

we had a very negative experience with this hotel.
In December we had a reservation in this hotel. When we called the hotel from the busstation in Sihanouk Ville for the pick up service. A employee told us there was no reservation and the hotel was overbooked. There was no service at all!

Don Bosco Hotel School is welcoming all guests willing to relax in a friendly atmosphere. The Hotel School students provide service while supervised by professional Hotel instructors. Sometimes something may go wrong, mostly due to lack of communication while students are still improving their English language. Sometimes hands are shaking while pouring drinks... But guest are happy to see Cambodian youth making a great effort in preparing a brighter future. We are deeply grateful to guests who are willing to enjoy their holidays with our young staff and students.
We appreciate guests who secure their reservation beforehand in order to avoid inconveniences after a last-minute phone reservation particularly in pick season. Thank you.

As a hotel it is very good. Deluxe room turned out to be an extremely large suite with double bed, sofa, table etc ( see photo) . Very clean room with immaculate bedclothes, towels etc. Bathroom is quite luxurious with a shower and a separate Jacuzzi bath with another power jet shower. With air conditioning, safe, hair dryer, tv, free internet in the lobby, the room was of four star standard at a very cheap price. However, the rest of the hotel is not even 3* at best. The lobby is quite basic, just a few chairs and the two internet PC’s. The grounds consist mainly of just the swimming pool. Whilst the hotel is set in its own grounds, there is little in plant life, trees or gardens that you might expect. And part of the reason for this is the hotels existence. It is a training school. And the charity foundation offers many courses as well as hotel management/service at the hotel, for example they train children in secretarial work, mechanics, welding etc etc. And unfortunately with the other training facilities adjacent this gives the hotel the feeling of being part of a college campus. The children are not around the hotel at night but the buildings are and you have to walk 5 mins just to get to the edge of the campus. And then there is nothing just another 20 minutes walk to get to the local town. And this is the Cambodian town proper not the tourist part. So you have no alternative but to take the courtesy bus everywhere. They are not busy and you could practically take the bus as your private taxi but you are limited to prearranged return times which is too confining on holiday.
The staff are learning but are very helpful and keen to learn and are more attentive and speak better English than at many established hotels. They are a bit slow at meal times but this was because they were catering for few guests when we were there, despite it being peak season, so everything was at least freshly made. And the fact it is under occupied means you can not only find yourselves with a private taxi service but also a private swimming pool. Now how often to you get that at a hotel? At the end of the day though it was just too far from anything and despite being a very worthwhile cause, local restaurants on your doorstep and a beach view to wake up to in the morning beckoned.

We stayed at Don Bosco for 3 nights in December 2009. The room was large with a king bed and a single. The room was clean and the AC worked very well. Although it is far from the beaches, the shuttle service was excellent agreeing to take us and pick us up whenever we asked. We did not pay extra for this. The dining room is operated by a head chef and young trainees who are learning the hotel business. Although the service was slow, they did their best to accommodate us. The menu was somewhat unimaginative but the fare was adequate and the price reasonable. Breakfast is included in your room price. The hotel has nice grounds and a nice swimming pool with restrooms and showers in the pool area.
