Breakfast was simple but good. My husband enjoyed the chicken fried steak and eggs. The country potatoes that I chose for my breakfast were good with plenty of onions and green bell pepper, though the veggies could've been cooked just a bit longer. I enjoyed the biscuit and gravy which was $.99 cents more. No wait for a table since it's just off the highway and really no wait for our food. We enjoyed breakfast and the nice drive as well. I overheard others asking for the tri-tip but they were out. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so we might need to make a lunch run one day to check out the tri-tip.

We heard about this at our timeshare in Stallion Springs. We went out to view the Tehachapi Loop and stopped for lunch. The food was good and we enjoyed it. The history of the cafe is awesome. It's all about enjoying a cafe from a gone by era. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Terrific breakfast! Quaint little place out in the middle of the mountains. Clean and organized. Friendly and quick service.

This eatery is a classic with a long history. Great stop when you are exploring the area, like the Cesar Chavez site and not to forget the famous Tehachapi loop.
It's always well visited and the food is just plain delicious. We have eaten there several times and always come back for more. This time we had a burger and the Taco salad which comes in a shell.

Had breakfast and lunch here while railfanning the Tehachapi area. A must-visit for any Tehachapi visit...convenient to the Loop, Woodford, etc. Breakfast was fast and ample, lunch was any way you want (healthy salads or starchy burgers and fries) and the atmosphere was great...friendly service with good local characters. My only request to management: how about having nice-quality hats and shirts for sale as previous owners did years ago, with a railroad motif and "Keene Cafe, Gateway to Tehachapi Loop" emblazoned? We encountered visitors at the loop from the USA and Europe and many were hungry for both food and souvenirs. Sent them to the cafe for the former, had no suggestions for the latter.
