Granny's has become a fave of ours.
Consistently good sandwiches and coffee. Just wish they served breakfast at lunch too!
Great pie, but they can sell out on busy weekends!

You can sit out front and people watch, or pick a spot in the vintage rooms with lots of Granny touches, like china and doilies.
Park up the road and enjoy a short walk to Granny's.

Any restaurant with the name “grannies” better be good. This one is,with maybe just one exception. The hot pastrami was mouth watering good. Lots of mustard and loaded with meat. My wife’s egg salad was excellent. The sole exception was the clam chowder. Not as tasty as it could be. May have been the unnecessary pesta. But, no matter what you order, get the apple pie. Warm, thick, juicy, and marvelous.

We went one morning for breakfast while staying locally - Breakfast menu had some unique dishes (baked oatmeal for me - excellent). We went back for lunch a couple of days later and enjoyed it as well. They have a patio area on the main street (we took our dogs) and enjoy the food and ambiance.

We enjoyed great tasting cappuccinos and a healthy breakfast here during our recent weekend trip to Julian for a music festival. Patty the co-owner made us feel right at home making us lovely cappuccinos on our first morning in Julian. We liked the friendly service so much we passed on a free breakfast at our B&B outside of town and came here instead. We even hooked up with our good friend Billy D from the band Billy D & The Hoodoos early on Sunday morning. Patty and Annie looked after us and even Patty's hubby Dale came by for a chat. Our breakfast dishes tasted fabulous and our cappuccinos were just perfect.Take a note that they use Caffe Calabria roasted coffee beans from North Park,San Diego.....these are the best coffee beans money can buy in our opinion. We use them at home. Oh and the fresh made baked goods we tried tasted sensational. Granny's Kitchen is a must visit location for breakfast or lunch if you are visiting Julian!

Stopped at Granny's Kitchen at 3:30pm hoping for a late lunch and some of their greeat Julian apple pie. Their local guidebook listing said they were open until 5PM. Unfortunately, when we tried to place a sandwich order, we were told the kitchen was closed and all we could get was pie and coffee. Granted the foot traffic outside was slow for a Saturday, but closing the kitchen that early was a surprise. We did have pie a la mode and coffee - delirious, large slice and the ice cream was a luscious french vanilla. It is a little pricey - 2 coffees and 2 slices with ice cream and a tip was $26. The service was very pleasant, and the place was clean and cozy. Would I stop there again for lunch? Perhaps, but I'd call ahead to make sure they were serving!
