We have been to McCormick and Schmick's in Irvine many times and in the last two months three times for different occasions. Tonight it was just a nice dinner with friends. Between all of us we enjoyed the lobster bisque, clam chowder, stuffed shrimp, rainbow trout some mussels and halibut. The bisque is brought out as a bowl of lobster and other inserts which is then brought together with the waiter pouring the bisque over the mixture and it was heavenly. I was told the halibut was perfectly done and the stuffed shrimp were jumbo shrimp infused with a tasty seasoned crab etc. along with a mash of potatoes in a creamy salmon colored base and was exquisite. My husband loved his mussels and chowder. Dessert consisted of creme brulee, strawberry shortcake and fresh berries. The food at McCormick's has been quite consistently good. But the prize tonight goes to our waiter. Michael A. did a superb job of explaining the choices and never became rattled when we interjected questions as some do when you interrupt the speech they've rehearsed. He was of great humor and very pleasant. He was patient with us and kindly waited while we took an unusually long time in our decisions. He was not only respectful and polite but he went beyond the norm. That was appreciated by us all and it made the dining experience much more wonderful.
