This was our first visit to this restaurant. It is an authentic Chinese restaurant. We are Caucasian so are used to eating "american Chinese". We tried the scallion cakes for an appetizer. The food was nicely presented but we felt is was gummy and kind of tasteless.

For our main dishes we ordered pork egg foo young and sweet and sour chicken. We found both dishes appealing. The S&S chicken was very tender and flavorful. The sauce was light and was very good. We plan to eat there again.

If you are interested in an adventure, I recommend you give this place a try. If you like "American Chinese" this place may not be for you.

They also offer dim sum. Service was a little disorganized.

We will try it for lunch next time.

One more comment, the restrooms were VERY clean.

Thank Nancy P

My wife and I were actually looking for a Chinese food buffet and stopped here because our search indicated it was a buffet. It's not a buffet, but we were not disappointed. I had spring rolls and chicken broccoli. My wife had sicahuan beef. Everything was fantastic. Very flavorful and plenty to eat. Far superior to buffet quality dishes. Highly recommend.

I went with friends to the CIE Sichuan (their spelling) restaurant in Indio for the first time, several days ago. We went for a late lunch around 3 - 4 PM. I have to say that this is the best Chinese restaurant I have eaten at in the Coachella Valley. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope you will patronize it. Partial order was leek cakes, fried dumplings, stir-fried lamb, shredded pork with garlic sauce, Sichuan coleslaw with sesame oil, peppers, and spices, a pork appetizer with sesame seeds and a dipping powder with anise and other spices, and more that I cannot remember. Servings were very generous . All food was full of flavor and deliciously spicy. All meat was very tender. The meat dishes we ordered were large servings of mostly meat, not a few shreds with a lot of veg. Leek (or scallion) cakes were the best I have had in years. Since it is Sichuan, food is spicy, but you can order it mild if you like. (We ordered medium spicy.) Menu is very large with many selections. We ordered a la carte, in order to try chef's specialties. With everything ordered a la carte and drinks, it came to $67.00 for more delicious food than we could finish. If you order combination lunches, it will be much less. They also have a happy hour, with half-price beer and wine. Not sure when happy hour begins - maybe 4 PM. We spoke with the owner of the restaurant, who was extremely helpful and friendly and answered all our questions. The wait staff speaks little or no English, but you can just point to selections on the menu. If they don't understand your requests, they'll bring the owner to your table. Restaurant is located at 45682 Towne St. (310 357 9911) a few blocks off H'way 111 in Old Town Indio, a few blocks south of the library. This part of Indio is undergoing renovation so some of the street signs are missing, but restaurant is very easy to find. There is plenty of off-street parking on side of restaurant. At time we visited (mid-week, late afternoon) restaurant was not crowded and service was prompt. They also have various styles of Peking duck, but you have to order it a day in advance. I plan to visit CIE Sichuan again very soon.
