This was our first visit to Idyllwild and a local store owner recommended Ferro which was a short walk away. Facility: cozy, relaxing, beautiful - there is a small bar and dining on the front porch, upstairs or down in the small main building, or on a large backyard patio that also has a "bar" with a wood-burning oven for making pizza. I understand that they do live music in the evenings; the stage is in the back patio area. Food: authentic Italian. I had lived in Milan for a year and this was like going back. Pizza with Italian cheeses and brocollini baked in a wood-burning oven was the best I have had in years. We had a panini with ribeye steak and caramelized onions that was awesome. And topped it all off with strawberries with balsamic vinegar and vanila gelato (trust me, one of the most popular desserts in Italy). Service: warm and friendly, genuine, no pretense at all here.
What a delightful was to spend a lazy summer afternoon - fabulous food, beautiful weather, and cool music.
