“The building alone is worth the stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2011

I stayed here based on the reviews, and I'll have to say that I echo everyone else in saying that the building is amazing. I've travelled quite a bit and have never met a staff member (unfortunately I forgot her name) who was so animated and excited about having guests in a hotel before. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the restaurant/bar within the hotel has a bit of Cheers-like character to it.

If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stay here, and hopefully more than just a night.

We agree with this traveler (and others) that the Eagle House is indeed an amazing structure---and we certainly appreciate him saying so. We're also glad that our guest rooms deserved his praise, as well as our on-site "Cheers-like" restaurant, Gallagher's.

By the way, the "animated and excited" staff member whose name he couldn't remember (no problem) was, in fact me. And, I can honestly say that it's easy to be enthusiastic
about welcoming guests to such a historic treasure as the Eagle House.

We do hope that he'll be able to return at some time in the not-too-distant future and stay more than one night at the inn. We know he'll be glad he did.

The Eagle House was such a wonderful experience for our daughters wedding! We rented the entire hotel for out of town guests and for the Wedding service and the food from Gallagher's! It couldn't have been better. Beti is a wacky fun person and really takes care of everything. The food was delicious and served beautifully. The rooms were all different and kind of a Winchester Mystery House feel about it because of all the different levels and sitting rooms. It was quiet, except for us, and close to everything in Old Town. A great place to choose!

Thanks so much for sharing such glowing words about your daughter's wedding (and the rental of all of our rooms for your guests) at the Eagle House. I can assure you that we had just as much fun having you, as you did while you were here.
So, please come back again anytime you have something else to celebrate--even if it's just spending the night for no particular reason other than making your own "special someone" happy. (Our beautiful guest rooms await.) You'll always be welcome at the Eagle House!

My husband and I stayed one night Nov. 5, 2011. The next morning we were gathering up our stuff at 10:55 (check out is 11:00 am) and left our room door open to the hallway. A grouchy old housekeeper stuck her head in our door and said checkout is 11:00 am. We told her we would be out in 5 minutes because our watch said 10:55. She actually argued with us that HER watch read 11:00. Then she proceeded to sit outside our room on a couch and wait for us to leave. When I pay over $100 for a hotel room, I don't expect to be shooed away. Definitely did not get the feeling from any of the staff that our business was welcomed. No hospitality. Absolutely will not stay there again.

We can't apologize enough for this guest's completely embarassing and unnecessary experience with one of our housekeepers. This sort of thing should never, ever happen--and we'll certainly make sure that it doesn't happen again.

As far as the guest not feeling welcome by any of our staff (with no hospitality), that is extremely unusual since we always make sure that everyone who stays with us (for pleasure or business) is made to feel that we couldn't be happier to have them at our inn.

We're truly sorry about this less-than-enjoyable experience that made them say that theyd never stay with us again. I can personally promise, that if they ever changed their mind and gave us another try, we'd make up for it.

Again, my sincere apologizes on behalf of the Eagle House.

We stayed at Eagle House with our in-laws in the Penthouse Room (45) and adjoining room on the 4th floor. It's a great building with interesting shaped rooms, fun staircases and antiques. The fireplace screens are beautiful. The hotel is within easy walking of the historic downtown restaurants, shops, a wonderful natural food store and the harbor boardwalk. The beds were comfortable and good showers. While it may not have all the conveniences of a modern chain, it more than made up for that with its charm and location!

Room Tip: We like the 4th floor for the view.

We agree that the Eagle House is indeed a "great building"---Old Town Eureka's historic treasure since 1888 (and counting).
Thanks for your comments, and please stay with us again when you come back to Northern California!

Two couples stayed at the Eagle House Victoria Inn on Sept. 22 and 23. My husband and I were in room #45 and it was wonderful. The room is on the fourth floor and there is an elevator. Large sitting room and an alcove for our king size very comfortable bed. Bathroom was a little tight and did have a bathtub/shower combination. Very comfortable accommodations. Our friends were in room # 44 which had a connecting door to our room that could be locked on either side.

The Inn is huge with a ballroom (where we saw some very nice motorcycles parked in), lots of hidden seating areas, a stage and lots and lots of interesting pictures everywhere. Just the lobby furnishings will take a while to look at closely. Be sure to look at the ballroom floor and notice the different patterns inlaid in the wooden floor.

Beti was a real treat both on the telephone while making our reservations (lots of useful help with room suggestions) and a pleasure to meet in person. Her assistant, Tye, was wonderful in making sure everything was okay with both of our rooms and even showed us his favorite picture (it's a burning ship picture - ask him where it is).

A restaurant is in the hotel also and we had a very good lunch there. Nicely decorated.

Breakfast consisted of muffins (very fresh), orange juice (carton) and coffee served in the lobby. A flavored cream was set out but I ask for plain milk and on our two morning there Mr. Cho (?) was kind enough to get it for me.

Eureka is a great walking town with a harbour side promanade and lots of Victorian buildings and murals.

Yes, I would stay here again. Thank you all for making our time in Eureka so nice and having such a lovely inn.

Room Tip: Talk to Beti and tell her what your needs are and she will take great care to place you accordingly.

Thanks for so many glowing comments about both your stay with us, and singling out our staff (by name) at the inn. It's always our collective goal to do our very best (from handling your original reservtions, to following through after you arrive), to make sure that our guests have the most enjoyable experience possible during their time with us. And the personal, insightful input that you have kindly shared, is exactly what we need to continue to improve what we do in the future.
