We choose the residence inn for its location. It was close to fine shopping and the beach. However, we realized this place is more convenient for long stays and or families with young children since it had a kitchenette in every room. We stayed for a weekend and the first night upon arrival when we wanted to take a shower realized the water was running from both tap and shower head. This was corrected the second day. The front desk staff were very helpful and provided directions to restaurants and shopping malls. The breakfast was okay. Marriott has put this residence in category 5. I believe this place in comparison with other Marriott hotels we stayed, does not deserve more than a catagory 3.

Room Tip: Stay at second floor. Our room was at first floor and we could hear the movements of the guests staying in the room above us.

The Residence Inn Costa Mesa Newport Beach is the old style Residence Inn, but what make it very good is the staff.Sue Cook GM And her staff are excellent and very focused on guest satisfaction. Grounds are kept very nice.

We stayed at the Residence Inn for 3 nights. Our primary purpose for being there was to enjoy Disneyland with our grandkids who were staying on the Disneyland property.
It's a typical RI one bedroom suite with microwave, refrigerator, cable TV, and free wifi.
Parking was $10/night. We had a bottom floor residence and were able to hear people walking above us early in the a.m. Maid service was good and the complimentary breakfast was ok with the usual cereal, scrambled eggs, yogurt, waffles, coffee and juice available. The pool was nice with lots of patio space with tables and chairs to spread out. One issue was the amount of extra costs added on to the basic price of the unit....$34/night including the parking and a city tax. It just seemed excessive but you would pay more for parking at many other nearby hotels. We would stay there again but only in a second floor room. We didn't try the happy hour...complimentary beer, wine, snacks and soft drinks. If you arrive late in the evening most of the parking spots close to your room will be taken.

Room Tip: 2nd Floor best

We had a very spacious, clean room that included a full kitchen: refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, even dishwasher! A living room area, and lovely bathroom. There is a pool with jacuzzi to hang out at. Wonderful breakfast included.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Costa Mesa on July 9, 2017, as we were attending a wedding in Newport Beach. We used a Marriott Reward's certificate and weren't expecting much. However, upon arrival Sue Cooke, the General Manager greeted us with a warm welcome, and allowed us to check-in early. As Elite members, we rolled the dice, and secured an additional 500 reward points, which were then added to our account. It was a nice touch.

The room was very clean, and had modern stainless steel kitchen appliances. We drove to Halal Guys for lunch, and brought the food back to the hotel. It was quiet and comfortable and we were napped before the evening's festivities.

In the morning, the breakfast buffet was more than I expected. They had bread, cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs, greens, fruit, coffee, orange juice, etc. There was no need to stop for food before we headed home.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: A room away from the parking lot, through further, will be much quieter.

Thank you so much for choosing the Costa Mesa Residence Inn while attending a wedding. I am so happy I got to meet you at check in and so glad you enjoyed your suite. We have so many great restaurants in the area for lunch and dinner, but happy you started your day out with our great breakfast. We hope you will come visit again soon and get to try some other great places in Costa Mesa.
