“Truly a pleasure to stay In such beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 6 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The Old Hall is full of character, beautifully furnished and appointed and steeped in history. The grounds are also superb, with various landscaped gardens, a pool and tennis court. We stayed at the Old Hall over the weekend of our son's wedding which was held locally, with the Groom's party and close family and it proved to be the perfect place to entertain everybody during the weekend with a wealth of reception rooms and facilities. The wedding was wonderful and the Old Hall certainly added to our experience considerably.

“Fantastic House with lots of room and every small detail thought about”
Reviewed 27 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed here over Easter with our extended family (16 of us) and it couldnt have been more berfect... Champagne left for us on arrival, sun shining, lunch in the summerhouse, catered evening meal, archery on site, tennis galore, beautiful walks, hen and peacock entertainment, not to mention the high standard of decor and the individual character of each room. The owner was extremely helpful and tailored the house to meet our sleeping needs and helped us arrange activites and meals.

“In the words of our kids better than Disney World!”
Reviewed 14 April 2015 for a stay in May 2014

Simply the best holiday that we have ever had. I was looking for somewhere to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday and it would have been impossible to find anywhere better.
Janine was absolutely wonderful in terms of both recommendations and helping me book up all of the events taking a genuine interest in what we were doing and chasing things up if needed. I can only say to anyone thinking booking you can rely on anyone Janine recommends they all take the same pride in what they do as she does.
The Old Hall is a wonderful building full of charm and interest and while it is both grand and beautiful it still feels like a home and both Janine and her wonderful housekeeper Katy made us feel so welcome and comfortable that for one wonderful week we really did feel like the Old Hall was our home.
During our stay at the Old Hall we enjoyed a number of activities ranging from archery in the garden with everyone from our 5 year old to my 65 year old father taking part and having a whale of a time to enjoying a relaxing massage from the wonderful Yolande.
We cruised the Norfolk Broads in a fabulous 35 foot sports cruiser again arranged through Janine if you take a trip ask Steve the captain of the cruiser about his time as a DJ at radio Norfolk!
But the best part of the whole stay was the magical meal we were able to host for my wife in the Old Hall with catering provided by Bespoke arranged through yes you've guessed it the marvelous Janine. What their chef was able to produce on an Aga really had to be seen to be believed they even provided is with a cocktail waitress to make and serve cocktails all night. Perhaps the best example of the attention to detail that Katy the housekeeper put in to make our stay special was when she offered to come up on the night of the meal to help us set up and make sure Bespoke had all they needed she didn't just come up but without being asked she thought to come dressed in an elegant black dress which really helped create the feeling we were in a very special place where those who ran it were really keen to ensure we had the time of our lives.
Oh and don't miss out on having fish and chips cooked at you door by the fish and chip man in his van just the best way of enjoying Britain's most traditional dinner.
It's impossible to sum up what a wonderful experience we had but the our kids put it best when they saw their room with it's cinema screen and simply said it was better than going to Disney World.
If you are thinking of booking and have taken the trouble to read this review take it from me the only time you will be disappointed is when your time at the Old Hall is over.

“Christmas family reunion vacation perfection!”
Reviewed 5 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Our family made up of grandparents, kids & grandkids stayed in the Old Hall for a week over Christmas & loved every second of this amazing property & all that it had to offer. From the booking process which began a year & a half ago, through to our departure from the house, Janine has been just brilliant to liase with. Every question we had was answered, & so many suggestions as to what we could do in the area throughout our stay were forthcoming from her. Our arrival to the Old Hall was fantastic, with Janine greeting us with the fires burning, mince pies at the ready, champagne set.. I arrived first & she asked if we wanted the guided tour, she must have seen my kids faces....& told them to run off & explore by themselves & make themselves at home....& they sure did. The house lives way beyond its photo's...it's beautiful, with stunning grounds, plenty of places to take a break from it all...we had sixteen of us staying there, & each of us found our own favorite spot to chill out. The bedrooms are spacious, bathrooms attached to most, with modern amenities which are very in keeping with the house. Beautiful kitchen which really is the heart of the house...we quickly mastered the aga, & catered all but one meal ourselves with no trouble. Everything you think you may need....is there...we tried to find something that was missing....but we were always stumped. The grounds are beautiful & we had a brilliant scavenger hunt around the property, hung out with the peacocks, & the chickens & the guinea fowl....even got used to the rooster who seemed to think we should all get up at 2.30am! The house was decorated stunningly for Christmas, & it was hard to find a room without some added special extra that Janine had placed there. An endless supply of board games, dvd's, books, magazines....like I said...if you could think of it...it was already there. We enjoyed a meal from "Bill, the fish & chip guy" who rolled his truck right up to the front of the house, it was perfect & also enjoyed a morning of archery with Dave who Janine had recommended...another highlight of a great stay. While the Old hall is situated in a sleepy little village....10 minutes & you can be in Norwich...very easy access, although some in our family never left the house...they were enjoying themselves there too much. Our stay at the Old Hall was just magical, & has created a lifetime of amazing memories for us all who were there, both young & old. Thanks to Janine & Beccs for working to make our stay so very special. We would highly recommend a stay here to anyone & are already thinking about how to book a summer stay so that we could take advantage of a whole different side of the property....it would be a different place again in the summer I'm sure.

“A very special place!”
Reviewed 15 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

This place is simply amazing and almost to good to describe in words alone! The location is in the peaceful village of Saxlingham, not far from Norwich and the building itself is something incredible. I counted 6 glorious bedrooms and I don't think I saw them all. Our room was beautifully laid out, with traditional wooden beam walls and ceiling, our own en suite bathroom and even a drawing room. The whole house exudes elegance and style from a bygone age, with roaring open fires in several of the rooms downstairs. The gardens are immaculately kept, with the odd peacock to keep us company. There is even an outdoor pool although we daren't use it in December. We had a mix of our own food and catering, the latter being recommended by the owners. Chris and his team ensured that our stay was as perfect as possible, even bringing out the sun in December! I would definitely recommend this place for a family getaway, party or event.
