We found the campground wonderful, especially the proximity to the beach and hiking trail, not far from shopping. The price was right, reservations recommended, a must in fact if you want your choice of sites.

We went to the state beach here in Carpinteria yesterday and it was great. Not to crowded and the weather was great. Small waves and Sandy beach. They claim it is the world's safest beach.
We will return. Would I recommend it to others. NO I would just a soon nobody goes there so I can have it all to myself.
No just kidding. Recommend for all. They even have a wheelchair for handicap when there are life guards.

We have been coming here since the 80's and enjoy it so very much. Where else can you have the waves crashing right at your backdoor?! Great tidepools to check out, walk down and see the seals, or just sit in your beach chairs and watchpods of dolfins go by. Reservations can be hard to come by, as it is so popular and is a tad pricy but so worth it for the experience (reserveamerica.com).

Turned up quite late (8pm) and already dark so got a lovely surprise when I woke up next day. Great little campsite with friendly and helpful staff.

The only downside was the noise of the (freight?) trains going through in the night and the roar of the ocean (not really!).

I arrived at Carpinteria SB in disbelief and with great disappointment! The so called camping site was smaller than a Walmart parking space and as busy as a "Black Friday" shopping day with the likes of Walmart regulars roaming in uncontrolled "flocks" of dogs, unsupervised out-of-control kids, and adult gang-like groups with questionable motives. Crowded congestion that rivals a Super Bowl pregame parking lot! An advertised beach front site with NO beach access that has reportedly been closed and roped off for 2 years, the description of which is not readily disclosed nor apparent in the website. Most embarrasing for a Ca State Park that is so run down and so overpriced!
