Super small restaurant. One server, one bus boy and the sushi chef. Simple. Staff is attentive and quick. I eat sushi all over and this is some of the best that I have had...

We ordered sweet shrimp with heads, yellowtail, samon roe and a lot of other sashimi.. My son had some rolls. Everything was great. I will definitely be back when we drive through Carmel. The fish was very fresh and lots of great small hot kitchen appetizers.

This cozy Japanese restaurant serves excellent sushi and other delicious Japanese dishes. It is very tiny, so reservations are recommended especially during peak times. I especially like the soft shell crab rolls.

We had our heart set on the Mission Ranch restaurant. We called and were told no reservations taken - first come first served. When we visited, we found a 1-2 hour waiting list. As a general rule, I believe that when any restaurant is that busy, there must be some other restaurant equally good or better looking for business and it is important for us to support all good mom and pop restaurants. This simple principle has led to many pleasant surprises for us - and this was another such an experience.

The very sign of luck finding parking exactly opposite the restaurant. Then we were greeted with a hot bowl of miso soup - compliments of the chef - as soon as we sat down. The food is really classy Japanese food, prepared with a fine chef's touch. We ordered a sampler platter and a bowl of chicken udon and shared both. This gave us lovely variety and a fine tasting meal which did not sit heavy in our tummies. We also felt that the food was quite healthy.

The chef was charming and shared stories of celebrities coming to visit the restaurant, but he could not work up the courage to ask for an autograph. This spoke well on their respect for each customer. We would definitely visit the place again as it was one of the best Japanese dining experiences we have had in the USA. It was also a surprisingly modestly priced dinner meal.

So follow my rule and be pleasantly surprised. Lets help all good American mom and pop businesses succeed!

After reading reviews posted here and Yelp, I was prepared to leave if not satisfied by service and/or food offerings. I was most pleasantly surprised by our server's welcoming greeting upon our arrival as Guests 4 & 5. Within 5-10 minutes after our arrival, 14-15 more guests arrived in separate parties and maxed out both room and sushi bar capacity Some came running to get ahead of the others headed to this restaurant! All equally warmly welcomed.

Despite being warned there might be a delay in getting our ordered food due to the sudden influx, our hamachi kama arrived very quickly as did our two orders of maguro and hamachi sashimi plus saba nigiri. We were actually in and out in 1.25 hours.

Kudos to this establishment's tasty fairly price fare, graciously served in an unrushed manner. It was just the light meal we sought after a weekend of much heartier high-end dining in Carmel.

The staff was so rude and wasted it was just hard to believe this was not a bad dream. They acted as if we did not exist.
We were the only customers there at 8:00 Saturday night and they still managed to ignore us. They were so loud we could barely hear ourselves talk. Then their friends arrived and the became even louder and more obnoxious.
The sushi was good but Bento Box which had tree different choices was tasteless. We did not complain but that did not stop them from making fun of the poor service they provided us loud enough for us to hear when we left.
Needless to say we never return !!!!!
