During your trek to the Tiger's Nest monastery, this is the only cafeteria to rest and have a decent cup of tea or coffee or even meals. Lunch was not good when went there. I like authentic Bhutanese cuisine, but this was not authentic at all, as they claim!!!

At the half way point to Tigers Nest, the taktsang cafeteria presented an awesomely me view to the monastery and simply fabulous, clean, healthy lunch. We were pleasantly surprised!!

Bhutan doesn't have the Indian system of hundreds of tea and snack shops, either on hills or highways, so one can't expect much out of such cafes. And in a way, it is good to maintain the hygiene and balance of man vs nature, and keep the sanity of this wonderful place alive. Having said that, Taktsang cafe could be a little more helpful for tired trekkers, with the kind of place they have. I do understand the concept of higher prices, but there could be more options than just tea/coffee and a buffet meal. Though the tea is good and the free biscuits don't hurt, I found the staff rather rude. Even while we were sitting, they constantly kept asking us if we are done, and threw the remaining biscuits just down the valley without even asking us. I encountered the same rude behavior while making the payment.
The buffet lunch looked too unappealing(drab looking, too overpriced even given the high altitude of the location) and we settled for a beer instead. You don't really have any other option on this trek so you have to try out this cafe.

Any trek to the Tigers Nest is incomplete without a visit to the unique cafe located en route. We chose to drop in at the cafe on the way down from Tigers Nest after receiving divine blessings of this mystic shrine. Well maintained toilets, neat and clean interiors with adequate seating inside in the warmth or the outdoor seating with a view of the Tigers Nest Monastery are more than enough reason to drop in to catch your breath. Excellent tea with biscuits, coffee and even a buffet lunch is available at reasonable rates. Some may find it steep like the terrain but bear in mind their resources need to trek up the same path like us hikers. Do pay a visit to this unique oasis in the Tigers Nest mountain, if not anything else, for the amazing photo opportunity angle of the daunting Tigers Nest shrine !!!

So just getting the ingredients to cook food for crowds up here is nothing short of a miracle since no doubt everything has to be carried by hand/horse/mule. Cafeteria offers tea and biscuits for the weary en route or coming down from the Tiger's Nest, so a welcome spot. Lunch was a vegetarian buffet, which tasted fine despite my qualms about the hygienic aspect of things. No one got sick. Lots of folks eating here. Was dubious but just go for it.
