Allocco's Bakery provides the breakfast pastries to many of the inns of Cambria. So, my experience with Allocco's was based on the daily breakfast I had while staying at Sea Otter. The danish with apricot preserve was delicious as was the cinnamon brioche-like danish. However, the "chocolate croissant" was a croissant with a dab of what tasted like Nutella on top of the croissant. I really didn't care for it. Allocco's also makes cookies that are pretty good but not terribly special.

We had baked goods from Allocco's each morning at our local motel. We had lemon poppy-seed scones, Danish, croissants, and cinnamon muffins. They were OK; although the croissants were dense and not very flaky or crispy.

This bakery bakes authentic Italian cookies and pastires that cannot be found elsewhere. The baked goods are a little pricy but very very good.

We have been stopping at Allocco's in Cambria's East Village for years. We always find something we want or something that brings back a childhood memory for the Italian-American part of this couple. Usually we load up on Taralli, biscuits flavored traditionally with anise and pepper. For some reason Allocco's markets them as Italian pretzels. Allocco's bakes them with fennel, garlic, onion, rosemary, anise only, and pizza flavoring besides the traditional anise and pepper. You can also order them on the internet and have them shipped to your door. Of course, an Italian bakery would have an assortment of cookies, canoli, and sfogliatelle, a pastry with many feather thin layers, powdered with confectioner's sugar, and stuffed with cream in the middle. I genuinely like the owners of the bakery and I wish them well. To my mind, the pastry could be just a little sweeter, especially the sfogliatelle, and the canoli could stand some cream besides chocolate filling. But chacun a son gout. It is a miracle of sorts that the bakery exists in this little tourist town and offers the variety of baked goods that it does.
