Last minute plans were made to visit the Wine Country late in November. The plan was to stay over Saturday nite. The search for a B&B was started two days prior.

Even this late in the season, finding a B&B with vacancy can be a challenge. Charlotte's Country Inn was found after 30 minutes or so of searching. Online vacancy/reservation site showed availability. They were called to ensure that this was correct.

This inn is set back a fair amount off of Silverado so that cars going by can be heard in the distance but not seen.

Upon arriving, Charlotte came across as a very gracious and friendly individual. She showed us around the grounds, how to use the hot tub, etc. Our accomodations (The Gamay Suite) was larger than expected. The entrance is on the ground level, with the bathroom in the foyer area. Then, a steep and creaky stairway leads upstairs to the second floor with two rooms. The first is a sitting room, appointed with a small television with DVD/VHS player. The second, the bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a couple of dressers and lamps.

This building was built somewhere in the early part of the 1900's. The bathroom was obviously an afterthought in its design. However, Charlotte had it very well appointed with several high-quality towels in addition to an assortment of soaps and lotions. The shower is an old-style claw-foot tub with a large, overhead shower head.

In the upstairs, an antique wardrobe contained a coffee maker, microwave, and small refrigerator. The refrigerator was stocked with water, juice, and yogurt. In addition there was coffee, quite a large selection of high-quality teas, in addition to instant apple cider. There were several packages of microwave pop-corn on top of the microwave. All in all, very well appointed.

The bedroom included two large, warm robes. Niiiice!

After showing us around, Charlotte asked if we'd like some wine or lemonade. We let her know that we'd already had a good amount of wine at our tastings, but that lemonade would be teriffic. She returned with a couple of oversized tumblers of homemade lemonade along with a large dish of pistachios. It was clear that Charlotte enjoys what she does. It's the little things like this that make a H U G E difference.

We were served breakfast the next morning: Individual fruit bowls in cantaloupes (rasberries and bludberries), perfectly browned cinammon french toast, and unbelievably t h i c k bacon. Coffee was very high-grade Costa Rican. Breakfast is served in the reception house, where myself and my girlfriend met another wonderful couple at the shared table. Charlotte and her husband (?) ate with us and were wonderful conversation.

This was an absolutely wonderful and romantic getaway -- all for only $155 for the nite. A REAL BARGAIN!!

I highly recommend staying at Charlotte's Country Inn.

As you know, you may have hard time finding a B&B in Napa if you have small kids traveling with you.

Scarlett's Country Inn is the place you should stay!
Me, my husband and our 2 kids (age 8 and 3), came back here again this summer.

You and your kids will enjoy staying in cozy rooms, running around the front and backyards, playing with animals (they have 3 dogs and some cats, birds, etc..), swing under huge tree, pool, evening treats and delicious breakfast...

Scarlett and Derek are such a great host! Although we dont speak much English, they tried to listened to us and our kids and make us happy being with them. They can help you making all the arrangement for winery visits, finding restaurants and other activities, including finding babysitters and in-room massage in the evenings!
Also you should listen to their recommendation of small and nice winderies...

We love Scarlett's, and we are sure to come back again soon!! :)

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of happening on this gem of a bed and breakfast located off the Silverado Trail in Calistoga. Not only was our room (the arrowhead suite) clean, comfortable, and appealing to the eye, but the grounds are kept in very good condition with all the perks of your typical bed and breakfast in the wine country including pool and hot tub and, as a bonus, all of this located down a crackling gravel road past wildflowers and a mini-vineyard. The one thing that made this place shine to me was the great amount of pride the owners (only Scarlett's son Derek was on-hand during our stay) take in ensuring a good stay for their guests. Breakfast was delicious - perfectly browned french toast, chicken tomato sausage, just-right coffee and a well-presented fruit platter. I would highly recommend Scarlett's as a great value and very hospitable stay.
Don't be mislead by their website. This is a first-rate place.

We found this B&B at the last minute, and were SO happy staying here. Scarlett is an absolute sweetheart, and her aviary of canaries and parakeets was a highlight. The rooms are spacious and comfortable (if someone is staying above you in the 2-story building, beware of the creaky stairs!), and the pool area in the back of the house is the perfect place to relax, surrounded by greenery, and sometimes a wild turkey or two. The hot breakfast in the morning is enormous (french toast, sausages, fresh fruit) and delicious. I will most definitely stay here again in the future. Rates are $135-$205.
