Only stayed one night & although Ok did not find staff helpful with any problems. For example our TV did not work & there was no remote . Thought better ring & report it so they realised it was like this when we booked in . The reply was , so what do you except as do about it in a very offhand manner.

This review should not be considered a critique of the hotel or its amenities as we were only briefly on the premises..
We drove into Bishop after a long day on the road as part of a long road trip around California, Arizona and Nevada. Our accommodation had been booked well in advance and the hotel had our contact details.
We entered reception to find a note taped to the front desk indicating that there would be a power outage between 9pm and midnight. The lady at reception was completely unapologetic and indicated that the whole town would be affected and that they had been given very little notice of the outage. We asked for candles but we're instead handed a small flashlight. When we expressed concern that we would be unable to charge our cell phones etc the lady shrugged and told us it was only three hours...
Faced with the prospect of three hours in a darkened hotel room with only one flashlight, no lights, to or internet we quickly headed out to get some food before the entire town went dark and to see if we could buy candles, extremely disappointed that we would be unable to enjoy what looked like a very pretty town.
We were somewhat surprised to discover from other premises that Bishop is powered by two providers and that the electricity company concerned only supplied the northern part of the town meaning that the majority of premises would be unaffected, it was also clear that this was a long planned outage as part of a programme of maintenance.
We then managed to book premises a short distance from The Vagabond Inn and enjoyed a nice dinner, bowling and a hotel with power.
We are now engaged in efforts to secure a refund.
Surely the proprietors of the hotel should have notified guests in advance so that alternative plans could be made, there was no suggestion of any discount, one flashlight was clearly insufficient and information provided was ,in our case, inaccurate and ,in the case of other foreign guests we met, was invisible as they had no idea that the power was going off. The unsympathetic approach of the lady at reception wasn't at all helpful.
Fortunately having changed our plans Bishop lived up to its early promise, the town and the locals were lovely.

This is a freshly remodeled facility and is very nice. The rooms are clean modern and well appointed. Has a large flat screen TV with Direct TV satellite service. The mattress and pillows are excellent. Tall and Large people will love the shower and tub. My room was very quiet with little noise thru the walls. Ample hot water. The free breakfast had the usual starches and sweets. There are many walk-to restaurants including Starbucks, nearby. My only complaint is that the free wifi is dreadfully slow, dial-up may be faster.

Room tip: go for the top floor- no elevator- toward the rear of the property.

This hotel has just finished renovations. I was in Bishop in July, and the pool and spa were being renovated and construction was going on in many of the rooms. On my recent fall trip, it was a little too chilly to camp at 9,000 ft. so I stayed at the Vagabond. The room was clean, fresh, nice mattresses and linens, good towels and a microwave and mini fridge in the room. The tv has hdmi inputs. The pool and spa were clean and working well. The spa is of course heated, the pool not. This property includes a nice "carb-loaded" continental breakfast of danish, muffins, bagels, toaster waffles, cold and hot cereal, yogurt and fruit. Coffee, tea, and juices too. Sharing the parking lot is a Denny's if you require more. Popcorn is available in the lobby all day. Fishermen will enjoy the granite fish cleaning counter with industrial garbage disposal and fish freezer so you can get your precious catch home safely. Laundry and ice machines are available too. Parking is plentiful and free. There is a fenced dog walking area behind the back parking lot. The front office staff is helpful and friendly. You can walk to several food establishments from KFC to Pizza to Chinese to Starbucks. The location is easy. My first choice when in Bishop and weather makes camping impractical.

Room tip: Two floors, stairs only. Request a newly renovated room.

We needed a night in the Bishop area to break up the drive from Las Vegas to Yosemite via Death Valley. We chose this motel based on the strength of TA reviews and were not disappointed. We had a comfortable room with the amenities you would expect of a motel. Our room on the first floor had been recently renovated and was in good decorative order.

The staff we encountered were courteous, and checking in and out were both efficient. Our rate included a continental breakfast, which is served just off of the main reception. This was your usual motel affair of toast, cereal, yoghurt and fruit. During the day complimentary popcorn was available from reception, which seemed very popular with younger guests.

The motel is in an excellent location if you need a base from which to explore the surrounding area. Lone Pine, Mammoth Lake, and June Lake are all within easy driving distance. The surrounding mountains are beautiful. Although Bishop is a small town there is an excellent array of local and national eateries within walking distance of the motel.

In summary, a comfortable stay for a fair price.
